but who else will be in the boardroom........

AFAIC There should be far more business gurus in local and national government.
Far too many are amateur ego jugglers whos only great asset is passing the buck.

Will everyone in the Cabinet get one of these?

Alan Sugar said:
“With all due respect to the people in Victoria Street, they are what they are, they are civil servants, they have never actually been in business. You have got to have someone there to guide them in the right direction.”

Never a truer word spoken, I have worked with this department and other government bodies/agencies and the vast majority of them wouldn't last five minutes in the 'real' world. And as for the ability of their senior managers to make a decision.....:bang:

This is a subject I get on my high horse about as it is our taxes being squandered at an alarming rate.

"Just remind me who elected Alan Sugar"

Same one that elected that slithering weed Mandy what's his name.

Don't know how AS will be able to work with that bunch of no marks in Parliament.
He seems to be the very opposite to what they are about. Having one of them work for you is like being two men short.

I couldnt give a crap if he was elected or not... atleast we will have someone with some common dogf*** in the government.

Same as Mandelson and Kinnock, we used to live in a democratic country where the people voted for the government, all that has gone under Brown. It getting more and more like a dictatorship were the guy at the top picks his sycophantic flunkys to rule the common folk.

I cant take alan sugar seriosly after jonathon ross said he looks too much like sid james !!!!!

Don't worry, I'm sure that'll all change under Cameron over the next 12 years, Labour won't be getting back in any time soon

A change under a tory government!
Those with short/selective memories need reminding of the frauds that led to jail sentences for quite a few members of the last set we had.
As I wrote previously, a few more business heads in charge of local and national government with the power to knock heads together, would definitely help to bring common sense to the table.

It was two wasn't it, and one of those was for perjury not fraud? Seems selective memories are legion.

I thought it quite amusing that Brown is to speak this week on electoral reform. It is quite clear that his idea of electoral reform is to reduce the chances for anybody to vote against him. We now have Lord Adonis, Lord Mandellson, Lord Sugar, and presumably Baroness Kinnock, all taking jobs that under any other administration would be done by elected politicians.

No doubt we will soon have a whole load more join the Lords whose only expertise is in fiddling their expenses.

I heard Bradshaw being interviewed saying all this wasn't the PM's fault, he had to work with the system in place.

Sadly the BBC failed to point out that the system was put in place by Labour, and they used the whips to prevent it being changed in a supposed free vote when Robin Cook was leader of the house.

Just to remind everyone that the final of the apprentice is tonight.

As Lord Sugar never fails to deliver on his promises its now odds on favourite now that as there are no jobs vacancies in AS towers at the moment the winner tonight will become the next prime minister of GB.

As its 2 female finalists we are in for Thatcher Mk2 :D:D:D:D:D

It's not like the House of Lords has any power nowadays anyway, after the Parliament Act 1911 and 1949.

Mind you, I quite like the idea of the House of Lords. The idea that someone can do what they believe is right without having to worry about getting votes in 5 years time is somewhat appealing, and means that people will speak their minds rather than towing the party line.

Nope! a quick search finds 6 jailed and legions of others jailed for a range of offences.
Anyone parroting the smokescreen of a new 'decent' government coming into power will be disappointed.
They're all, as the recent outings in the telegraph have proclaimed, as bent as each other.

Perhaps you could provide us with a list.

It seems Sir Alan might not make Lord after all, he says he doesn't intend to attend the house which means he will fail the criteria.

He may also have to stand down as a government advisor or give up his tv career due to questions as to whether the BBC can remain impartial.....

Sir Alan Sugar? Are we talking about the same guy who bought up the Sinclair Computer brand in the mid-80s, only for the machine to become obsolete within a few months as the Commodore Amiga A500 made it's debut?
Mind you, I bought one of his "Stacking System" stereo units in the mid-80s, the one with the little square LEDs that showed up the volume level, it was such a basic thing but had a graphic equaliser built in, something that was only reserved for high-end Hi-Fis at the time.

Well I think Sugar's vision fits perfectly with the modern state based upon his previous ideas... cheap, badly made and everybody gets one... sounds a bit like the NHS!

nothing changes

He was saying something similar on the Andrew Marr show about Cameron. Sadly the BBC don't like to press him too hard so nobody asked him about his letter to the times when he was going on about being friends with Gordon for over ten years.
