Long story short
Samsung TV £700 worth and 2½ yr old wouldn't power off and was looking like a scrap heap job, i loaded the gun and got Mrs B to complain at our local branch ;)
Full refund no problem, obviously they couldn't stand my Mrs's arguing :bat:

Wow that's a result, how your wife to get that??

I could see them doing this, say <6 months old, but 2 1/2 years

She was ready to let loose with the sales of goods act but apparently they rolled over and played dead, i've just taken the tv back in my car and the new one is coming on Wednesday.
I never did believe in extended warranties when you have a Mrs like mine

its a fairly straight forward argument

will you replace for failure of the widget after 2.5 years

no

okay so I'm to understand that your TV's are only expected to last 2.5 years then ? , can I have that in writing ?

erm

oh and the sale of goods act says that items have to be of merchantable quality - would you say a tv that is only expected to last two years despite costing 700 quid is of merchantable quality ?

Gulp

and so forth - any reasonable manager will swiftly realise he isn't going to win this one and make with the replacement before he gets a shedload of bad PR into the bargain

You got it Pete, i did ask how long they thought a TV should last, i have one of the first slim flat screens (Panasonic) that i got for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and that's still going
