so i set my camera to take pics as RAW as my exposure is not always spot on at the moment so i could change the white balance in photoshop but now i have a few awesome pics i really like on my mem card from yday but cant do nothing with them on photoshop because they are RAW not JPEG can anyone help please??? oh i have photoshop elements and i thought it had a RAW converter if it as i dont know how to use it :)

It sounds like you don't have the RAW drivers for you camera, what version of Elements do you have and have you checked for updates?
 
elements 7 now there is elements 9 but isnt it £100 to buy the update?
 
I bought elements 9 for £45 off amazon...

Still, I'd have thought it should work as it should have ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) with it. Try checking for updates.

Not sure on Windows, probably in a similar place under one of the drop down menus at the top.

all updated so im stuck anything else i can do how would i start the adobe camera raw?
 
Umm, dunno I'm afraid (you may need to restart you computer).

Alternatively you should have got some software with your camera, that will work or you could download a trial version of Lightroom and use that for 30 days.
 
Oh, and Picassa reads RAW files and nowadays is a pretty damn useful editing program considering it's free.
 
i have picasa and i find its not good enough to edit the stuff i want to edit but thanks anyway will have a nosey through all my camera stuff think i will just buy the upgrade of elements 9 off amazon its on for £55 thank alot everybody :)
 
I'm using Elements 9 and can either open from organizer or from Elements

File-> Open

Select you Raw file and that then loads in Camera Raw.
 
is loads the file but then says this pic is already in this catalog or something and its not there just installing some software i got with the camera see if that works :) thanks again and miss moo im sorry i dont know what you mean by trying gimp or irfran view? is that through elements or ... sorry as i said im a newb
 
GIMP and irfan view are freeware image editing programes that you can download gratis - they stand alone from photoshop.

however what you really need is a raw converter/browser like lightroom, or the adobe camera raw plug in for elements

in elements open up elements, then open as in the box select your file and in the file option open as camera raw, or on desk top right click on the raw and open with elements and it will open with camera raw.
the lates version of camera raw that will work with pse7 is raw 5.5
which you can get here.

People relly need to start reading manuals that come with the cameras haha. Glad you got it sorted.
 
i lost mine was going to try downloading it from sony website and sorry didnt think....blonde ya seee :P
