Using Win7 and IE11.

For the last week or so, a really annoying popup appears when I try to change from one hotmail addy to another.

Basically I must answer Leave this page or Stay on this page, otherwise I can't even shutdown the browser.

It only happens on my email tab, never on any other tabs.

Have scanned for malaware using Malwarebytes, nothing found.

Likewise, Bitdefender doesn't find any viruses.

I changed to Chrome today and have absolutely no problems changing hotmail accounts but it's still there when I use IE:eek:


Does anyone know a fix for this or has come across it before?
 
I gave up with IE for similar reasons, always double-checking everything I did and asking me to sort add-ons etc ... moved to Safari and no further issues :)
 
The pop up is JavaScript code embedded in the page and is triggered when you try and leave a secure webpage

If you want to disable it, you’ll need to prevent the underlying JavaScript code from running. The easiest, and crudest, way of achieving this is to disable JavaScript entirely.

In Internet Explorer, click on the gear wheel icon at the top right and select Internet options from the menu.

Now, select the Security tab and click the ‘Custom level…’ button.

Scroll down to Scripting, then under Active Scripting, click disable to turn off JavaScript.

Then click OK.

I've been having this pop up for a couple of weeks, wondered why it suddenly started doing it.
now I know:)

Aye, but when you do that (as I did earlier in the week), it stops me logging in to hotmail, as it needs JavaScript :oops: :$

Think it might need a wee bit more subtle than that, which might be beyond me:(

The other thing is it never ever did this until a week or so ago?

I am fairly happy with Safari on my iPad but Chrome seems to get a few recommendations, so thought I would give it a try.

It's certainly a lot better than it was when it first came up.
 
It's actually a very good idea to install another browser anyway. I use ie, Safari, Firefox or chrome depending on what I'm doing & what operating system I'm using.

Think you're right, Neil.

I only replied because I have Safari on my machine but never use it.

Yes, reset everything to default, the only time this rears its head is on the hotmail site.

Mind you, Chrome seems to be easier and not had any problems so far with it.
