Are you satisfied with your camera?

Yes! I started out with a 550D and was completely happy with that. I then got a 7D and used the 550D as backup and I'm completely happy with that. Then I gave the 550D to the wife as I fancied going FF and got a 5D2 and I'm more than completely happy with that. Even the so called poor AF on my 5D2 is perfectly good for what I want the camera to do.

I've a 5D (mk 1), but am considering the MkII just to get AutoISO back and I miss the nice screen - that said its not at the top of my list!

I used to own a 7D and dropped back to the 60D and have been very happy with it - if I could somehow mix the two cameras it would be perfect :)

Although I have also tried a 40D, 550D too so I have been through a few bodies!!

(40D had hot pixels and the 550D was upgraded to the 7D)

Nice replies. Some of you have had a few cameras then!!

What about going from one brand to another?

Have had a D40 for over 4 years (still have it though don't use it much). Amazing camera and if it was not for the lack of image stabilisation and in need of a few more megapixels (I'd like to crop a bit) I would still be using it. Stick on it a small prime (35mm 1.8, 50 1.8/1.4 or even something like an 85 1.8) and it is without a doubt the best £200 I ever spent. Tried to move to a D7K but it never worked for me, too much extra bulk.

However I now have a K-5 which I hope to keep for another 5 years or so and it is simply fantastic. Heavier and bigger than the D40 but not as heavy or as big as the D7k and with IS built in. I have a 50-135 stuck on the front and I doubt I could get anything much better than that combo without spending 2-3 times as much!

I haven't caught the FF bug (that's unless Pentax comes out with a K-5 sized FF camera in which case all bets are off, though hate to imagine the size of a 50-135 for FF) but I am slowly catching the m4/3s bug. I can't put the K-5 in my pocket but I could a GX-1 + 20mm or even the new X zoom :)

My P&S was Sony but i didn't like the Sony DSLR so I choose a Canon this time and i am happy with it.:)

I love my D90 and having owned it for nearly a year I am not planning on changing it any time soon (actually I'm not planning on changing it at all) - that's despite me usually hankering after the latest bit of kit on offer.

I'm in the process of moving from a m4/3 Lumix G1 to an EOS 50D at the moment. The G1 has served me very well for a couple of years, and I'll still be able to use the girlfriend's G1 if I feel the need. However, I want to take a step forward this year and move to a DSLR, hence the 50D - main reasons being the increase in FPS, size, and better quality screen. I'll be pairing it with a nice L zoom lens and can't wait to get out there and start all over again with a new camera system :) I don't plan on changing anything for a few years now, perhaps just pick up a nice wide lens in a month or so, and I'm set!

I upgraded from a 400D/Siggy 18-200 to a 7D/Canon 15-85mm this time last year. Shortly after I replaced my Jessops flash with a Nissin Di866 and sold my Siggy 170-500 to buy a pre-owned 100-400L.

Right now there's nothing else I can think of that I want/need that would make my shots any easier/better :)

The times where the benefits of a FF would be good aren't great enough warrant the money to buy the body/lenses.

Wife got me the 400d for my 40th birthday...I had a couple of basic lenses with it. I gripped it. I loved it. Still do.

Then a guy at Camera Club wanted to sell his 40D, and I decided I'd have it as a Christmas Present to me. So I did. Bought a 3rd party grip. Absolutely LOVE IT! The differences from the 400D are great for me...not massive steps, and still oldish technology now, but a step up for me.

And the 400d? My 6 year old had it for Christmas. :)

Do I want another camera? Ultimately? Yes! But I am very happy with what I have now so it'll be a coupe or more years before I look to change again. :)

Hi,
I have two bodies, one could do with a bit more exercise after the chrimbo period  and the other if a newly acquired D300 - it's amazing, I can't fault it but, I am still getting to grips with it (lots to learn) - The answer is YES!

Only had 2 DSLR bodies - bought a D70 in 2005 (or was it 2004?) and then a D700 in 2009. Like all the D700 owners. I'm still delighted with it, even after 3 years. Can't see myself changing it for one of those mythical D800's unless it gets damaged or nicked, as it does everything I've asked of it. Only minor quible is it's size, but I know about that before I bought it, and if I need anything smaller, I use the D70 or a compact.

Very happy, having progressed up the Nikon ladder over the past few years. I started out with a D90, then added a D300s, traded the D300s in for a D700, sold the D90, bought a D300, sold that, bought another D90, sold it again and now have a D3 to keep the D700 company. I didn't really get on with having both FX and DX despite a few goes at it, and needed a compentent backup for the D700 now I'm doing more weddings. Somehow that ended up being a D3, so now the D700 is backup for the first time. Still love it though, although now it feels as small as the D90 used to now I've got used to the D3. Funny how that happens.

Yes and no. The D700 is truly awesome, a real luxury item for me as a hobbyist, but even as a hobbyist I'm allowed to appreciate the build quality, ergonomic controls and sense of purpose. I do, however, only really shoot everyday with a 50 prime, and the holy grail for me would still be an M, because I still value the art of discreet, quiet shooting. However, Leica M's are somewhat of a crap-shoot on the secondhand market, which is the reason I bailed out at the last moment before settling with the D700.

The Fuji X-Pro looks to be a very close match to my ideal camera ethos; more a contax G than a Leica M, but my appreciation of the M has nothing to do with branding. I'll be watching the early reports with interest, especially the performance of the 50 equivalent prime.

I hate you for making me google Fuji X-pro.

Like others who have D700s, I am 100% happy with mine. Of course, there may be a couple of things I would change if I could but it's hard (as an owner ) to make the thing lighter or to add a 2nd card slot.

I hate you for making me google Fuji X-pro.

Sorry... Unfortunately for us all, this isn't even a concept camera.... Likely to be released at CES tomorrow....

When the x100 came out, it was so close... Just the fixed lens compromise. well, this appears to be all the best bits of the x100 with a selection of interchangeable lenses. My money is on Fuji creating the buzz camera of 2012, and if it's good enough, dropping the bottom out of the M8 used market... We'll see!

Recently killed my 5DII, so was faced with the 'am I happy' question.
I replaced it with a used 5DII bought here on TP, so YES I'm happy

But I'm less happy with the other kit decision I took in 2011 :(
My 20D wasn't good enough as 2nd body shooting in low light at festivals and concerts, so I bought a 60D - which does the job fine; but the images always feel 'good enough' rather than WOW, which I get from the 5DII.

The reason it was a poor decision is that I also bought a Fuji X10 which has proved to be an astonishingly capable pocket camera. It only came out in Nov, so this is all hypothetical. But the X10 is good enough that I'd happily use it to cover the wide angle shots at concerts and festivals.
The 5DII would then be used on the long lens. Currently a 70-200 f4 IS which is often not long enough and using with a 1.4TC is often too slow.
So this would have meant either buying a 70-200 f2.8 (when needed, used with my existing 1.4TC), or buying a 70-300 L.
This would have meant less to carry (IMPORTANT), and I'd have been investing in more good glass instead of a mid-range DSLR I didn't really want (DESIRABLE).
Isn't hindsight a wonderful thing :D

I'm using a Nikon D2x and D300s.

I am happy with them, I still use the D2x for people shots as the skin tone is great and I use it for sport on bright days. The D300s I use for everything and am happy but I could do with less noise at high ISO. Maybe the D400 might be the answer.

Very happy with mine.
D4 would be nice, but I don't think it would make enough difference to my pics to justify anything like the cost.

Mamiya RZ67 Pro, and it's better than I am....

Previous cameras are D40 and D200. For what I do, the RZ67 is lightyears better

I'm very happy with my film stuff (M4, Rolleiflex, Hexar and F3), and just about satisfied with my S5 Pro.

Yes to both cameras (and lenses). 5D Classic, 1D mk2 (couple of L lenses), all of its better than me. :)

Matt

More than happy with my D700's. Yes I would like them to have duel card slots and be a bit lighter also, bar that they are superb.

I loved my D40 before them also kind of regret selling it, for a smaller camera its far easier for sticking in a pocket when matched with a prime.

There are some nice new features on the D4 but its too rich for me (maybe one day).

What a good question:thumbs:

The short answer is yes. Got a D5000 as a starter and had a variety of lenses. Then I worked out what I liked shooting and what I would need for this, having the variety of lenses helped a lot as it helped me see what I actually use. So, I bought a D7000, which I need for the high ISO performance, and will have my lenses sorted when my Sigma 17-50 arrives at some point this week:D

Yet another happy D700 owner here, wouldn't want to change it for anything. Wouldn't change my FM2n either.

Lenses on the other hand... you can always use more lenses :D

I change camera model and brand relatively frequently. I'm happy enough with the M9 just now.

spo your all gona think I'm made but I've had me oly E-420 about 3 years now, got the 14-42/17.5-45/40-150/70-300 in Oly and a rather spiffin 500 mirror
would I change? NO I love them all but then again, I haven't tried anything else
stick to what you know "A" you'll not be wanting

Very happy, the 40D and 150mm macro suit me well and I didn't expect to be able to afford a lens like my 100-400 for a few years.

Sure it feels a bit heavy at times but that just goes with the territory for this type of photography.

I'll continue to add bits and pieces, but I don't see myself making anymore large purchases for quite a while (till I have the cash and inclination to upgrade from the 40D probably).

More than happy with my D300 it seems to be a lot more capable than I am! Moved up from a D3000 after about 18 months use as I wanted faster AF and better low light performance. Can't complain so far. All I can see me doing in the future is upgrading my glass.

Very happy with my 7D - I have had it about 5 hours! I started with a 450D which was an excellent starter camera and taught me loads, but I found the fps exactly matched my dog's strides
per second! I moved up to the 50D for the faster fps (amongst other things) and as the best I could afford at the time. I have just upgraded again as I found myself limited by the AF and ISO - I do a lot of wildlife/ bird and dog photography, so lots of fast moving subjects. Really looking forward to getting to grip with the 7D.

I nearly bought a D700 the year before last, but bailed out, because I gave it a thought, it makes no difference to my photography skills, the pictures are going to be no better and it'll cost me a shed load to realise this, so i've stuck with the D90

However I am considering an m4/3 system, maybe a Nikon 1 :)

More than satisfied with my 7D, personally don't see the so called noise at higher ISO's that some people mention

Already had some decent EF-S lenses from the 40D days so seemed the logical choice

I have always been a Canon man and to be honest, i am missing the Canon layout having a D90 at the moment! I may swing back to Canon again!!

I have a 550D (it's my 4th in the last 12 months) and I love it, given the choice I'd rather it be a 5D mkiii but it's not released yet and I can't afford it.

My main tog buddy uses a D90 and I blow him out of the water with my 550D. The colours don't seem so true, like there's a cold filter on, have you compared the 2???
The D90 is very rugged looking though. Mark.

In 18 months I started back in photography (after a break since film) with a 450d, then swapped that for a 1D2, then bought a 1Ds to go with it, now upgraded the 1Ds to a 1Ds2 and a handful of L lenses (17-40, 24-105 and 70-200 F4 IS).

I'm happy with my gear at the moment, until I can afford a Phase One back and go back into medium format (I had a Mamiya 645AFD for a while) but in digital.
