Yes
And if so, does it make a difference to the way you edit your photos?

I'm quite badly colour blind with red, browns, greens being the pick of the crop for getting mixed up and often feel a lot of images I play with I process into Black and White subconsciously simply because it's easier to do so, especially when trying to nail a certain colour.

Anyone else lean this way and how do you get round it?

Interesting post, something I've not seen mentioned on here before

I'm not colourblind, I've had several tests over the years when applying for jobs so I know I'm ok , just as well really being an electrical engineer !

Be interested to see responses to this

I have had colour blind students, and some are OK, some are not,. It depends on the extent of the colour blindness and the type. Usually, they are OK because they are simply processing colours that are already present, and are just just adjusting things to how they remember seeing them.. usually, that ends up being correct, especially as there is no wrong or right.. it's all subjective. If they were CHANGING the colours from one thing to another, then that may be a problem, but that's the only real issue I've seen.

There is a tendency for colour blind people to want to work in black and white, but I reckon that's just a confidence thing for those who KNOW they are colour blind.

Likewise, massively colour blind on reds, green and browns so interested on how people deal with this when editing.

I'm the same but seldom have problems and in those rare cases where I'm unsure I ask my other half who often second shoot with me.

just as well really being an electrical engineer !

My mate got six months into a YTS course in the 80s to become an Electrician until they realised he was colourblind. Not the career to be in not being 100% with colours. Six months wasted though.

He got into photography for awhile, and didn't find it was too much of a problem, though occasionally some of his picture editing (colours) were questionable. ;)

I too am colour blind (Red, Green and Brown) and I must admit its not something a let a lot of people know I about.

The only time I have real problems is when I am using ND's and Grads or where there is a real white balance issue (indoors with multiple different light sources), trying to correct colour casts can be a real pain depending on the cast given.

These are the times when I will tend to work in Black and White more so than colour.
I might just be me but I find that being colour blind makes you more aware of tones and shades more so than just colours, this could be another reason why colour blind folk tend to lean towards black and white images as well.

I recently got myself an expodisc as well, its still early days but so far I have found it does give good results and has helped me a few times where I would normally scratch my head trying to figure out if the colours are off or if is in fact me.

Huh, hadn't really thought about this before.

Not myself no, but I imagine it would really be quite a challenge..
