I wonder just how much business is lost by companies buying into the ghastly Captcha systems that claim to distinguish between humans and machines?

I just won't deal with a site that uses them, especially those absurd tiny picture types. Does anyone have anything to say in favour of these things? Here's my own Captcha ready image...

The ones that use them keep out search engine snoops like Google - gets my vote. (y)

How do they achieve that?

When I wrote search engine code, we just scanned the directories of target machines, starting at the URL root.

I don't come across it very often, but occasionally ebay throws it at me.
It doesn't really bother me, I just find it ironic that AI wants me to prove I'm not a robot. :D

I personally don't have a problem with it and as far as I know its there to make sure its not an automated attempt (robot) to hack your account with repeated tries at your password.

I absolutely had to dig this old gem out - it’s from 2011 and somehow I managed to find the post on my fb profile…

How on earth does the system expect you to enter mathematical expressions in a simple text box :headbang:
