Are we currently witnessing mass hysteria?

I certainly agree it didn’t save any lives and it didn’t make the nurse’s jobs easier.
I cannot agree it was pointless, it showed the NHS staff that they were appreciated
and highlighted the threat of Covid (which some needed)
I admit to rarely turning out on my doorstep to clap etc. However there was a
subtle ‘peer pressure’ We live in a small close/cul de sac of 10 properties and everyone can see everyone else. I know my wife (who is a much nicer person than I) felt ‘obliged’
to turn out on the obligatory ‘clapping nights’ Another example of ‘The Lemming effect’ ?

Just another bit of Mr Johnson inspired BS
The worst thing is that transitioning from Johnson to Truss is like coming off alcohol only to start taking heroin. :(

You have to at least give people a chance Andrew and in all of this you also have to look at the alternatives.... For Boris it was the Remoaner movement and the blocking of the democratic process and Comrade Corbyn and with Liz it'll be Starmer and Angela Rayner. So, often we go for the least worst option but we then must give them a chance and if it doesn't go well we all have our vote when the time comes and many of us will again hold our noses and vote for the least worst option.

“Democratic Process” haha

“Democratic Process” haha

Yup. Like it or not the people have the opportunity to vote.

I know the Remainer Marxists and race baiters of the far left would like that to stop but as long as there's an alternative to your, oops sorry... their divisive policies you, oops, sorry, they, wont get the chance to cancel the tenuous grasp on democracy we currently have and hang on to despite your, oops I did it again... their best efforts to create Venezuela and endless division in the UK.

Ricardo.

Lets remind ourselves. Oh yes. The referendum vote resulted in Brexit and the lefts disconnect and contempt for the people outside of north London lead to the red wall crumbling and a massive Tory majority. Read that and try and understand the reasons why, if you ever can. Until you can there really is no chance for you and your core beliefs which will continue to be rejected by the people unless as a protest vote if the Tories really make a mess of things.

Anyway. The Queen is on so I'll leave you leftists and FBPE's to wallow in your bitterness and tears.

You seem to be the only one getting hot under the collar mate, you need to calm down. If you joined the army to protect the monarch, then I think you are way off the mark. You should have joined the army to protect your country.
The two are inextricably linked, isn't that the point?

Voting is a right.

Flip flopping on the basis of a single vote, not so much. Even arch-brexiteer Farage saw this.

How very boring that once again I have to point out that I am not a ”lefty”, I have never even voted for the Labour Party. So keep your bigoted, closed-minded insults to yourself.

Just picking up on that latter assertion - it was Boris who illegally prorogued parliament after lying to the Queen, so in fact it was he precisely who blocked democratic process unequivocally

Im not sure that who you vote for is the only criteria.
Plenty of people get called "far right" who may never have voted conservative.

I think the whole Democratic process was pretty much ditched during the aftermath of Brexit.

Really? Surely the use of the word “lefty“ here is pejorative, and relates to someone’s political views, which are then reflected in how they vote.

@Cockney True, but specifically BJ prorogued illegally, as established in court; as a result of which the Tories introduced a bill to remove the right to judicial review in many cases, and further a bill to allow the government to ignore the results of such JR's if they wish - in other words giving HMG a similar right to the US President to enact Executive Orders, which breaks with all that we have known for 1000 years of consitution, and effectively gives HMG, not parliament, a similar right to that of the monarchy which was removed through the Civil War. Dangerous precedents become relevant.

They do, indeed.

Our parliament has descended into a pale copy of the Russian Federal Assembly, due to the massive majority stolen by the tory liars in chief and their acolytes. We need reform urgently but there's no realistic hope of seeing that unless the less rapacious members of the conservative party decide that Truss is a luxury too far, forcing a crisis and thus an election.

I don't think it's that cut and dried. Are all Labour voters lefty and all Tory right wing?
I doubt it. Although I undestand it in a descriptive sense I don’t think it's necessarily accurate.
In the past I've voted both, and others but I dont think my views haved changed that much.

That's not surprising, they probably voted BNP, UKIP or Brexit Party
Quite possibly.
But does that make all Conservative voters far right?

I agree, but thats the trouble with bending rules, they get bent more and more until they break. It's a slippery slope once you start. Very difficult to reverse.

To get back to the title of the thread , yes, when a BBC presenter says (in all seriousness) this is the last glimpse the Queen will get of ...................(something or other I wasn't paying much attention) and everyone excepts it as if he is talking sense we have lost the bloody plot!

I think we have to give them a little artistic licence.

Seemingly YES.

The glimmer of hope is that people are willing to make contrary opinions known about the event, its cost and the behaviour of others.

Frankly a lot of this has made me want to puke.

The virtue signaling is very hard to put up with, you only have to look on here where another fawning thread has started. I never could stand sycophants!. Other forums have just closed any thread not licking the Queens ass. I hope people realise all this bowing and scraping is just to remind people how powerful the establishment really is and we should know our place. 10 day ago I was quite upset the Queen had died now I am a firm Republican.

I have no problem with the funeral or the cost. I don’t wantbour longest serving Monarch going down the co-op or getting a cheapy cremation. I have no problem with people queuing for hours.
I, like others, want to vomit at some peoples virtue signalling, "I care more than you" [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER].
This lack of honesty and sincerity warps opinion and response in so many areas. Eg the police shooting of the lad in the car.

Because of the state funeral?

No mostly because I had to drive twenty miles to find somewhere open to by a packet of Rizzla!:runaway:

Just to remind you Corbyn was always a euro skeptic unlike BJ who made his mind up for political gain. Corbyn was heavily criticised for not campaigning hard enough for remain.Te awful compromise that Labour was forced to fight on in the 2019 election was put on Labour by the Blairites and the anti Corbyn faction. Now get back to your dead Queen and revel in the days of empire that have gone and will never come back.

The new thread is mainly concerned with the excellent organisation and presentation of the event.
You couldn't even ensure you had enough papers for your roll ups.

Never smoked roll ups in my life always cigarettes, I got them for the bloke downstairs who has had a stroke and only has a motability scooter

The Magnificent Historical Event Today.

I have been more moved today than I thought I would be.

I am not a religious or overtly royalist person but this was so right.

I would appreciate it if this could remain a civil and respectful thread and an alternative thread be created for anything else please.

So can you please show me where in the OP title or first post where anything is said about the organisation or presentation of the event?

So that makes the Leavers neo-Nazis? I had suspected as much.

The fact that ITV decided that yesterday required the entire day's transmissions on ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and ITVbe to be the same broadcast of the funeral shows an element of grief "hysteria".

I noticed that about ITV. My view is that this is a perfect example of media manipulation of the great unwashed.
