I'm trying to find a good home for a Manfrotto 055 Pro Tripod, its in vgc, just too big for my needs these days

Would like it to go where it would be used rather than a charity shop and then no doubt end up on Ebay or suchlike.
Got it for sale on here at the moment, but would prefer if someone less fortunate could make use of it.

Any ideas or people here who help out with charity work?

Thanks

Not too sure if they accept charitable giving bit perhaps the Disabled Photographers Society???

Edit ~ they do invite any equipment related donations on their main page here https://www.the-dps.co.uk/

I left a couple of books on their stand at the Photo show.
Not sure where they are based though, due to its size and weight was hoping I could just drop it off

No harm in dropping them an email - say what you have and where you are - and see what the response is :)

They are based in Kent.....there is an email address on the page I linked to so as Chris says, just ping them an email and see what they advise as possible with your offered kind donation :)

PS it is great that you are thinking of others getting some good use from your redundant kit :jaffa:

Will do, possibly the sort of thing they might find useful.

Very interesting find. Let us know how they reply. If they are happy to accept donations by post I might send them a few bits myself. I have a lens or two I could send them too.

Interesting, I have quite a few bits I could donate too. :)

No reply as yet, will leave the tripod in the cupboard for now until an opportunity presents itself

Still no reply, quite often find its hard to give stuff away to charities
The bags that get put through the door asking for stuff very often fail to be collected

I did wonder whether a camera club would want it, ideal for studio type use

If anyone here can put it to good use please feel free to speak up

I’ve been looking at this style of tripod. Certainly wouldn’t want to take it off any charity though but if you do decide to get rid of it on here let me know.

Maybe the best thing to do is sell it for a fair price and donate the money to a local charity?

That way the tripod goes to a good home and continues its working life with someone who'll use it but also respect it and a local charity gets some much needed money... Win Win maybe?

I surmise that the DPS though it has 'officers'/trustees is administrationally a very small operation......so the chairman, as I recall the emailee for donations, might not respond too quickly, for any number of reasons???

Thanks all for your suggestions and advice.
Going back in the cupboard for now, rather hot and loads to do so will sort this out at a later date
