Are Fuji taking over Nikon?

Sony are top dogs in gamin and not far off in the TV side of things as well android devices

PS4 sells very well for them, they dont sell as many TV's as Samsung have alot of the market. Phones, they sell very little, wouldn't be suprised if they pull out of the market in couple of years. Phone camera sensors on the otherhand, by the bucket loads. They aren't the company they used to be.

Sony only bought the camera business of Minolta to get hold of their technology, patents and experience/brain power. none of the camera lines survived.
Yes and no. The first Sony Alpha cameras were essentially rebranded Konica Minolta Dynax digital SLRs and the line was developed for a while. It was a quick and easy entry into camera market for Sony, albeit an irrelevant comparison to Fuji buying Nikon (if it was to happen)
I find it hard to think what Fugi would want to keep out of the camera side of the purchase of Nikon. If they had wanted to compete in the Full frame market they would have already done so, the high end medium format sector has always been more their area of interest. The full frame market is only going to become more and more competitive as it shrinks to its basic core.
I don’t recall the figures exactly, but Nikon are huge compared with Fuji camera sales. Infact even as number 2 in camera sales until recently (still are even?) Nikon were outselling everyone combined except Canon. I have figures in head something about 40% Canon; 30% Nikon leaving 30% for everyone else.

But such a sale of Nikon to Fuji wouldn’t be about just the cameras. First the report referenced was (as I understand it) about the Japanese government trying to ensure that IF Nikon was to fail it would be sold to another Japanese company not sold off to Korean / Chinese entity. Second Fuji were “annoyed” that Canon hoovered up all of Toshiba Medical, merging Fuji and Nikon would make sense in that respect. Fuji and Nikon could be quite complementary in terms of photography being that they aren’t really competing (Mirrorless vs DSLR; Full Frame vs Medium Format). If Fuji could leaverage Nikon’s legacy lens line that could give a boost.

No. Sony make the vast percentage of their profits in gaming and entertainment and in camera sensors. All other divisions are about break even, except for mobile phones that although are now making a small profit (after being shrunk drastically) we’re loosing money for many years.
