Are All Canons Made Of Lego?

Unfortunately for you this is the post that confirms you're a troll and a ****. If you've got nothing better to say then please don't post thank you.

I'm sorry - are you the spokesman for the site owners or something? What gives you the authority to tell people not to post or what to post? A forum troll would be someone whose raison d'etre would be to make off topic or offensive posts. I think you'll find that I have made over 200 posts on here and you are welcome to go and research them to find out if I fit that description.

I made a post about the Canon 450 feeling plasticy and cheap which it does which you've obviously taken offence to for whatever reason.

I wish Canon would make their electronics a bit more sturdy. The body of my G10 is very robust, but it is a nightmare reliability wise. The cockroaches running around inside haven't been fed is the only thing I can think of. Taking off fo yet another repair - going to be buying a P7000 to replace it if it goes again.

Nikon are generally regarded as more robust build quality than Canon. Like for like. But the best bit is the Nikon backup. At least they really do look after their pros. Canon just ignore theirs with massive turn round times. Nikon build quality and back up is what swings it for me. I don't think there is anything to choose between them as far as image quality goes - both camps have pros making good livings from the pictures they produce. Even the G10, when it damn well works.
Built in obsolesence from Canon. Built in compatability from Nikon!

It's all going a bit 'wedding tog thread' in here... :exit:

this post interests me.. are you saying Pros with CPS get ignored?

Lets do a comparrison, you drop your Samsung out of an upstairs window onto concrete, (minum 10 feet) then post a pic of it and I'll do the same with a 450d....

He won't be able to if his camera is on the pavement below in hundreds of fragmenst of PCB an plastic shards...

Really? Have you ever used CPS membership to get anything fixed?
I'm lucky in that I have Silver CPS membership. I've evoked it twice in the last few months.
First time was I broke my flashgun (dog knocked over the lighting stand it was on) and I needed it for a shoot the following week. I had it back three days after sending it for a £52 fix.
Second time as I bought a 100-400 lens as a gift for my son. I thought it slightly dusty so sent it off for a clean and asked as it was a present if it could be turned around quickly. Again in three days it was back to me.

I really cannot fault canon's service at all.

Someone mentioned the Pentax K-x.
I remember they were available in Red and Navy blue

:D

Most of the low end models from all manufacturers are cheap n nasty feeling. Money gets saved somewhere. I'd rather have the money spent on good quality electronics and reliability rather than pleasant feeling plastic.

Hum - just had an email from CPS.

Would I like to trial a canon 1D mk4 or the new 70-200 lens for 48 hours for free.

Really poor service from them?

I do agree that the Budget Canons feel small and flimsy which is what swayed me towards the Sony a300 when I was choosing between that and the 450D. You must remember however you K20D/GX-20 is a mid range/ semi pro body equivalent of a d90/d300 so it's going to be tougher/heavier :)

i was in a similar position when i was buying my first dslr, i wrote the entry level canons off pretty quickly because i didn't like the feel of them. the xxd and xd cameras are a different ballgame though, i'd happily use any of them

I reckon even one of those plastic jobs will do you for now ;)

450D is not cheap and nasty! Its a great camera for the price.

not that I am the almighty or anything but over the past 18 months as a sort of self test of gear I have had..

4 Canons (350/450/10/40d)
2 Sony's (a100/200)
4 Nikon's (D50/80/5000)
3 Olys (E410/510/Ep-1)

so I cannot judge against the high end pro cameras but with what I have had and used I can say(and this is purely on build quality) the Canon xxxd's have felt the worst closely followed by the Sony's, obviously the 10/40d were the most solid followed by the D80..

out of the budget end in the comparable range (450d/D5000/E510) the Canon is easily the worst to hold and field the Nikon & Oly are both superb to hold and feel with the Oly probably having the edge..his

this is all about build quality and feel.

*sniff*

i smell trolls.

trollololol indeed.

Lets take one of the lowest lines in a product range and brand the whole company as making cheap and nasty cameras. My 1D MKIV feels plenty sturdy thank you very much

So because you think that I haven't started any threads with pictures that means the 450D isn't cheap and plasticky?

In your case is logic just something that happens to other people??

I never said all Canons were cheap and nasty, but thanks for your input.

Here are a Few Fun Facts About Lego:

The number of combinations you can build are practically endless. With just six 8-stud bricks you can build over 102 million combinations!

It is estimated there are 52 Lego bricks for every person on the planet.

Kids around the world spend around 5 billion hours playing with Lego.

The Lego Company is based out of Denmark.

The word Lego comes from the Danish word Leg Godt which means "play well".

The world record for the largest Lego castle used 400,000 bricks.

Lego bricks have been used in engineering and other technical fields to do real design and science.

I don't think that's what he was implying ;)

What a preposterous suggestion!

Some are made from sticklebricks. And there is the much sort-after 'P' range constructed from play-doh.

No, but you fully implied that in your thread title.

Don't back out now!

What are you on? How is asking a question in any way implying a fact?

Come on, don't insult mine, or anyone else's intelligence! Look at your thread title and read between the lines.

Oh and the question you asked... Did you honestly think Canons ARE made of lego? If not its a simple implication, as what else would you mean?

I quite clearly said that it was the only Canon I had experience of. Please try and keep up.

And as for insulting your intelligence I'll leave that to you as you seem to be doing a good job of it.

Good threads have a start, middle and end. This is the end, shame about the rest of it :)
