Now if I had said, The thing that let's down the Pentax's.

The guy can say what he thinks, can't he? Or has the Internet suddenly been taken over by the Gestapo? Just because its a negative view of something that many of you see as a personal attack because you own a Canon, doesn't mean he's some kind of Internet wierdo....
...the fact he owns a Pentax's does that for him. But that's an aside
Anyway, this place is turning into a crappy place lately - have a word with yourselves.....
The Word "The" Is an Adjective. Adjectives Modifie a noun or pronoun by describing, identifying, or quantifying Certain words. Now seeing as I left the word "Pentax" Singular and i didn't pluralise it, I could only have ment the one Item that I personaly Have drawn my opinion from.
Now if I had said, The thing that let's down the Pentax's. Then, you would have been correct. But i'm affraid on this occasion, You are Far from it.
No it isn't.
'The' is a definite article.
I suppose it's ok for light duties but I wouldn't want to take it on holiday or use it in a crowd for fear it would fall apart.
</sniffs bait>

ok well..in fairness the 450 and especially the 1000D feel plasticy to me (YMMV), in my humble opinion the 1000D is the wost SLR for build quality that I have held. However, out of the cameras I've owned (Sony a200, Canon 40D, Nikon D40, Nikon D90, Pentax K-x) the 40D has been the sturdiest of the lot by quite some margin, so no, not all Canons housings are made by fisher price.
However it seems to be that in the 'buget sector' Canon and Sony focus more on specs than build quality whereas Nikon and Pentax focus on making a sturdy camera with great handling with slightly less pixels or whatever. Shoot me down in flames for that opinion if you like and I'm not saying either way is wrong but go hold a Pentax K-x, a Sony a290, a Canon 1000D and a Nikon D3000 - the Nikon will be the best made followed by the Pentax. The a290 and 1000D duke it out for title of plastic fantastic but the 1000D wins.
But to make the point from both sides - the D90 doesn't hold a candle to the 40D in BQ.
just my 2cents..
I have never used another DSLR other than my Samsung GX20 (Pentax K20D) but last week at college I picked up one of the college's cameras which was a Canon 450D. I was amazed at how cheap and nasty it felt compared to mine and it seemed that if I gave it a squeeze it would pop apart. I have never handled a Nikon so I can't comment on those but I must say it'll take a lot of convincing for me to move away from Pentax.

Looks like lego!
Im also guessing it would be nowhere near as painful to stand on my 500D as it is to stand on a lego brick.
Or a plug, come to think of it![]()
