Yes
They don't seem to appear in the classifieds very often, so either once people have one they keep it and don't upgrade to much more expensive 1Ds or they don't buy thm in the first place?

I can't really imagine them not being popular, but i'm struggling to find enough 5D's for sale to get an idea of their 2nd hand value.

I guess if a new 5D is released sometime next year then more of the current version may get sold in clssifieds.

No the 5d is not really a popular camera.....it's use is limited to a certain band of groovy people ;)

It is a cracking camera, but it falls at an odd point in the market, the 40d is an equal or better option for features, but the 5d has the full frame sensor and it's gorgeous colour resolution.

the 20/30/40 camers are a lot cheaper to get hold of too, and that counts in the hobbyist stakes

The 5D is on eBay all the time,

Second hand prices are crazy at the moment, and I see 5Ds going for near new prices, definatley not a second hand buyer market atm.

The new model should be announced mid Jan, and if you google Canon Rumours you will find the rough specs.

I am waiting till Jan, if the new model does not have much that is new then I will buy a 5D, else I will wait till maybe june for the first price drop and get the new model (5DMkII, 3D, 6D whatever they are gonna call it)

At about £1,200, if you really want one, I would buy a new one in the next few weeks, great price for a great camera.

Ive used my mates one a few times, I still can't get that damn pop up flash up :)

I have a 5D and it keeps me employed. I need the pixel count for magazine work, the FF sensor is excellent. The 1D III wasn't available when I needed the camera so not sure if I would have opted for that instead. But then I don't need the burst speed it has.

Happy with my choice.

May look a a 1Ds lll when that comes out but it is nearly £6K

I think we would all like a 1Ds mlll but at that price it would be divorce :help:

Probably....but the shots of her packing her bags would have stunning resolution.

The 5D is a camera that I'm interested in, mainly for the full fram CMOS processor.

I have a 30D just now which will be sold to make way for the upgrade.

The only drawback with the 5D is its burst rate at
3fps....anyone know if its successor will have something better?

Has the focusing screen issue been fixed on the 5D now or is it still happening. I had 3 and every one let big dust spots in that couldnt be moved, Canon said they would be sealing all new models better.

No problem with mine yet....7k clicks

No problems with mine either & I find that surprisingly 3fps is very easy to work with as long as you realise the limitations, it certainly isn't the ideal sports camera but the resolution & IQ is stunning!
If I'm totally honest, my 1D hasn't been used nearly as much as it deserves to be since I got mine, I thought that people were just playing to hype when they were saying about how good the IQ was but I think I'll actually have to agree based on my own findings.

Given the choice again, I still wouldn't wait for the next 5D instalment as the 5D I have now is more than adequate & I'd rather have the camera now & taking pics rather than speculating on whether or not the next one will be enough of an improvement (pending teething troubles too, etc)

Good luck with finding one

I haven't seen any dust in the viewfinder of mine and that's probably over 10K shots so far.

Even changed the screen 7-8 months ago and still no dust.

Where's a piece of wood when you need it

Im getting mine in the morning!! so i guess they are still popular!! hehe.. I wont get a wink of sleep!!!! lol..

I'd be interested in your opinion of the 50/1.4 on the 5D. Some seem to suffer vignetting when wide open...I did...but others report no problems.

A collegue at work has just bought a 5D secondhand. For his inside portraits of his music students it works a treat. Very sharp, excellant low noise at high ISO's and for him, a lack of features/buttons compared to my 40D which makes it easier for him to learn/use.

I'll post some sample images later on today if i get the chance of a decent subject, if not i'll just shoot the kids...:lol:

Now where did i put my Remington??? :whistling:

Just a thought, from the OP. Maybe the reason you don't see so many secondhand is that their owners like them.

Yup, thats one of the possibilities i'd thought of and wrote in the OP ;)

Just wanted to see which reason it was since it's the only "cheap" FF camera canon do to my knowledge
