Some daily newspaper websites have taken to putting up photos from their archives (like Boston.com), these are pretty good.

A very moving set of images... Thanks for sharing.

The technically minded part of me is amazed at the amount of processing in some of those. Some serious dodging and burning there, almost to the point of HDR. Check out no.25 for example. I knew the techniques existed but hadn't realised the extent to which they were used.

Beautiful photos of an awesome event. The American war cemetery really shows the extent of the beaches casualties.
Current campaigns with their H&S, wrong kit etc; seem light years away from these tough guys, let's just get on with it experiences.
My father took part in the Normandy landings and said "everyone, to a man, was so anxious to get off the boats". Not to fight particularly, just to stop being bloody seasick.
Respect to them all.
