Hi all!

I am a bit new to the concept of L brackets, Arca-Swiss etc. From what I can see, Manfrotto doesn't sell heads with Arca-Swiss fittings from the get-go. You need to unscrew the standard head attachment where the quick release plate clips into and screw in an Arca-Swiss compatible one.

Now, are these just straight up swappable?

I am looking on Smallrig.com and this looks great - https://www.smallrig.com/smallrig-quick-release-clamp-arca-type-compatible-2143.html also not expensive in my eyes. Can I just fit this to a Manfrotto head? Or do I need anything else specifically?

Apologies if I am being an ignorant muppet. All help appreciated!

TIA
Jake

Not totally correct in what you say. Manfrotto do make an Arca compatible head..MHXPRO-BHQ6 is the number. I know because I have one!
But it wasn't cheap so you could adapt your head by adding a plate similar to that shown. There are many on the market and the clamp parts are (or should be) fully Arca compatible. Where you might have a problem is the underside of the plate. Some heads have a couple of prongs on the stem and you will need a plate to match. Other than that they just bolt on - threadlock could be useful - and off you go.

You will also need one of these to convert standard Manfrotto to accept an Arca style clamp.

Ah so this backs up what Mickledore was saying regarding the prongs to match. Gotcha, cool! Thanks!

Thanks very much! Quickly looking up that head, here in Portugal its some 200eur or around 200usd! Yikes! Seems more financially sensible to get a plate and adapter which tjuana taxi linked to use?

Are there any recommended brands to look for clamps? I know of Really Right Systems, but by the time you pay for shipping and customs, thats also silly money territory.

Appreciate all help so far and onwards :)

Sunwayfoto make decent clamps at a sensible price, some others on Ebay from the far east include the adapter, but can't remember the name,
