Aquiring models.

I know you guys might think im stupid but how do you aquire your models-do you pay them offer them prints or what.

I know how to get them of course-just wondering if you lay up the expense of hiring them or source them gratis.

Some I offer time for prints others pay me to do a portfolio type shoot and some I just give a business card to and tell them id like to photograph them.
Other times if it is for a particular job I will hire a model that fits the brief.
