Thought the local Radio DJ's were messing about this morning when they said that Canvey was on the Times top 10 list of places to visit for a day out!!
Then I picked up the paper and saw that this horrendous error was also in print !!

I know I'm biased because I live there, but what kind of deranged lunatic would put a reclaimed marshland with more houses than trees, more people per square metre than a football staduim on matchday, and no shops (other than the obligatory charity ones) on a list of places to visit alongside York Minster, Windermere and Studland Beach ?

Perhaps the author confused his Visit and avoid lists. Absolutely amazed that the editor never sent this chap for a couple of months rehab.

Lovely beach but if you go togging down there you may find your shots are a little...ahem...'over exposed'

Just a tad !!! - We were staying down there a couple of years ago.The Mrs was feeling a bit knackered so I took the kids down there while she monged out in the caravan (not realising what kind of beach it was) - We were all having a right good loon in the dunes, kind of an extreme long jumping competition, when we almost landed on the saggiest, palest freckliest pair of naked octogenerians you could ever hope to literally stumble across.......

Not too sure if they were more peeved that we'd inadvertantly turned them into rather sandy lumps of lard, or the fact that the three of us were fully clothed !

Laughed all the way back to the campsite, and nearly wet myself when the kids were trying to explain it to the wife !!!!
