Apply for CPS Membership.

I have also tried to register, you get nowhere quickly!!

Its been the same for weeks now, Pretty shoddy from a major company who is obviously "offering" this service to their loyal customers..:cuckoo:

First time I've looked at this thread!

I just clicked the link in the first post, filled in all the boxes and clicked submit. Just got the email back saying we will let you know.

So it works here :)

Working now for the first time in weeks Robert...:woot:

Will get back to filling the form in..

Do you think it is really worth it for basically the mag,
Or is it just another way of selling more L Lenses and bodies.

I sometimes think that.

BUT, they also offer priority repairs to CPS members, which for a working professional is a godsend, especially if a breakdown means you are without essential kit and can't do certain shooting.

Well how bizarre was that...:suspect:

Got as far as going to the second page and it said my email address was already in use..

Wonder if it accepted my details the last time but no response like I got now, The page just shut down before..:(

Put my hotmail address in the relevant fields and a few details on my cameras and lenses and there you have it,

We will email you in due course..:D

Hopefully accepted after all this time..

You can get loan equipment out of them if your goes in for repair etc. and the faster turn around is good, you also get a canon service stand at some of the major events, just in case your gear is not behaving its self.

I might benefit from joining then. My gear misbehaves all the time. No matter how much I tell it off, it still goes naughty and takes crap pics.

Hopefully accepted after all this time..

You're application is allocated to a local rep who vets it and contacts you in due course- they don't rush! ;)

I can't see Canon going out of their way to upset someone who owns as much Canon gear as you do Tim. :D

Just got my membership card through this week!

Nice one mate....

The card is sure impressive looking, but unfortunately is neither weather proofed, or scratch resistant, which I find rather ironic, considering the level of equipment they want you to have.

Still waiting for mine. Does it have a red ring around it? :D

Another email overnight..:D

My card has arrived. Silly that it still says CPS even though its now CPN.

Well that just means youre oldschool pete ;)

*HOLY THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN*!

I think I may now have the equipment levels needed to join CPS - would be especially handy for the expedited servicing as I now use all my gear in my day job.

I see that they are currently making modifications to the scheme and wondered if anyone knew:
1) If they are raising the req's higher than 2 bodies and three lenses
2) Whether the 40D was added to the list of 'accepteds'?

Currently Have:
5D MkI
40D
85 1.2L
200 2.8L
50 1.8
580ex
ST-E2

Think I would meet requirements?

think its meant to be 3 L lenses but am uncertain (also wasnt it 2 bodies or 3 lenses?)

also i can't join cos mine aren't new

Les posted a list earlier in this thread with the requirements (post 44) - mostly L's but the nifty and a few others were also on there.

CPS applications are closed at the moment

The CPS programme will, as always, also be open to new membership applications. Those wishing to be considered as a new CPS member (as a photographer or videographer) will be able to do so via this page once the new programme goes live during the course of April.

I've recently been accepted. My earlier application was refused when I had a 40D and 50D registered, but I added my spare 400D body plus the list of everything I had and they were happy to have me.

I registered 40D, 50D, 100-400 L, 70-200 F4 L, 24-105 L, 580 EX2 flashgun and they said no.

I added the 400D, 70-200 F2.8 IS L, 50mm F1.4, EF-S 10-22, 420Ex flashgun, ST-E2 flash controller and they said yes.

Cheers all. As soon as the new registration is switched on on april I will give it a go - looks like I will have enough kit.

Cheers

i might be even tempted to do this once i get my hands on a 5DII and a 17-40L which hopefully will be in under a couple of weeks time.

The Nifty isn't on the list of criteria lenses anymore.
You can (or could) select it from the list to add, same with the 430EX etc, but they still don't count towards your qualifying criteria :)

The 30D and 40D were taken off, but the 40D was put back on :)

I've recently been accepted. They were happy with 40D + 1Ds2 and 100mm non-L macro + 85mm f/1.8 and 2 other L lenses. I hope it stays that way even though I am yet to discover how CPS is useful.

Just got the latest CPS news letter and mag, they are changing the membership to silver gold and platinum, it depends on what equipment you have for what level you get.

Everyone needs to re-apply before June or your membership will be cancelled........:'(

Just tried to renew mine and the website is not up and running yet:geek:

When I first joined - or tried to join CPS a few years ago, they turned me down, because I only had one camera and one L lens. I fired off a fairly snotty email to them and highlighted that I only needed one camera and one lens for the work I do. I sarcasticaly apologised to them that I was not professional enough in their eyes, but organisations such as the MPA did consider me to be a pro. 24 hours later I got a slightly grovelly email from them accepting my application.
