Still pricing up my move to a Mac, and would like to ask Mac users if they bought the AppleCare Protection Plan when they got their Mac, and do you think it's worth the 10% premium on top of you computer (£199 for a Mac Pro)

You get your first year free... if you decide you do need additional warranty you can purchase it even on the last day of your first years warranty.

I was just about to post the exact same question! Spooky or what :p (It was prompted by the recent Macbook Pro for sale in the classifieds).

I keep toying with the idea of whether its worth it or not.

Mine is nearly a year old and no issues so far.... but you can guaranty that if I let it slip something will happen...

So I think before the end of this years warranty I will purchase another years worth...

Would rather be covered just in case....

I've always had Mac's and never had a problem apart from a worn out hard drive which I had replaced for a lot less than a couple of years cover. IMO you don't need it. However, there is always Sod's Law to consider!

Yes. Also, if you can get someone to buy it with a student card you'll get it for £50.

Yes. My hard drive went completely crazy and I lost everything. If I didn't have the cover It would of cost the same to fix as buying a new laptop. So yes definetly get it :D

Yes. The cover is excellent and fantastic value. So it looks like you'll need to save for a little longer. Never mind, it'll make it all feel even better in the end.
