Apple watch worth it?

Oh well think I will just stick with the martian notifier if its any good. Not as many bells and whistles as most smart watches but under £30 it seems a bargain and battery life is good as screen has seperate battery from the watch itself.

I think the few posts above do highlight the biggest issue with the apple watch and that's for sports use, it has the bells and whistles but poor battery and not rugged enough make it a poor challenger for out and about activities. For in the office and pub fair does

Would not one of the G-Shock style cases not solve your ruggedness concern? They look pretty bombproof to me.

Gary, sorry wasn't making direct reference to you... I was making a general observation TBH... Android, Apple, etc.. lovers and haters... There are bound to be folk that hate them having owned them or tested them, it is always just an opinion.
Hi Mike, i only quoted your post to make reference to the fact that some people arent fan boys, sorry for the confusion

You may get off on arguing for the sake of it but I don't. I'm happy for you. But you had not mentioned you had owned one until I pointed out you were basing your views on others' experiences. But hey ho, life goes on.
Its safe to say dont assume anything then;)

Oh well zavvi just mailed to say they arent sure when they are expecting stock so may cancel the order for the notifier..

I'm a self confessed Apple hater as I don't like being dictated on what I can and can't do but appreciate that my other half loves her iPad and iPod as they are simple to use and it's difficult to b****r it up. however, even my friends who are staunch Apple fans and bought the watch have sold it pretty quickly because in their opinion, if they use it for a little while (like everyone does with a new toy), the battery wasn't seeing it through to the end of the day and as others have said, they can forget using the sleep monitoring function as it's constantly on charge when their home. Personally, a watch is pointless if it can't last at least a weekend. If you're away you have to take the charger with you and possibly another charger for your phone.

Is the new moto 360 compatible with ios at all?

I think there is an android wear app for ios so it should do.

I've had a LG R watch for a year now, I'd not hesitate to buy a replacement if I lost or smashed it :)

Mrs Nod picked up a Pebble for £50 in the Currys/PCWorld event. Waterproof to 5atm (?50m?) and a charge lasts a week with Bluetooth and vibrate on - she gets around 30-40 alerts every day. She also keeps her phone (oh, so handily!) in the bottom of her bag so sometimes doesn't hear it ringing - now her wrist vibrates and tells her who's calling. OK, it doesn't look as pwetty as an iWatch but we're very much function over form here.

According to the website:

Works with Android™ and iPhone‡

Still tempted the charging aspect doesn't worry me as like Ricardo I take my watch off at night so simply placing it on charge at bedside table is no deal breaker. I'm also in construction, plasterer to be precise, so won't be wearing it in the day whilst working just evenings and weekends really. I have a cheapo Casio I use for work. Just trying to justify the outlay and weigh up other possibilities

At the end of the day just get what you fancy, whether it's an Apple Watch, Pebble, Moto or any of the others. Sadly you know when someone starts using the term "fan boy" in one of these threads it's difficult to have a rational conversation.

Lol yeah I know just really fancy the Apple Watch ..it has way more features than I would use but quite a few I would make good use of. Has iOS 2 made as much of a change to its speed etc?

I only got mine after that had been implemented, so don't know what it was like before. The only thing that disappoints me is the limited number of faces. I have the sport model, which does look very casual. I bought a milanese loop, which changes the look entirely and turns it into a very smart dress watch.

You know if you don't go for the Apple you'll end up thinking what if lol..if you fancy it, go for it, I'm pretty sure there are plenty that do like it ;)

Lol yeah very true! Apparently ios2 has fixed a few niggles . Seen quite a few after market straps for it on amazon which are reasonably priced so that's not an issue either. Must admit I was surprised at the limited faces compared to others out there but have seen a couple on review videos that would suit me

Plenty of them available 2nd hand.

Are you serious?
We have these phones that we can take anywhere now, and now we have devices to tell us the bloody thing is ringing?
The mind boggles! What ever next?

Very useful to deaf people.
I wonder just how many deaf people can afford these otherwise toy's, as I'm sure they weren't developed for the disability market.
But then again the phone itself vibrates. so it kinda knocks a hole in that idea.

It does make a little sense, but as per my edit.
And yes there are phones for deaf people too

As an aside, the iPhone has a large section of settings specifically designed for those with disabilities.

It's only useful to someone that needs to know their phone is ringing when they're not supposed to be looking at it. Otherwise you'd just look at your phone.

A Bluetooth headset and Siri will do a lot of what the watch will.

In that case why not. Sounds like it will suit you. It is a nice device.

Only useful?

What about when you're upstairs and your phone is downstairs? There are loads of instances when it's useful.

I also like how you can pay with it instead of whipping out your bank card, cash or your phone. Very handy on tfl operated public transport.
