Apple v windows

because that title isnt going to start an argument..

LR - you just have to speak to adobe about a licence transfer between platforms.
DPP - normally there are osx versions available.

or just spend a couple of quid on Start8 and get a straight to desktop + start menu feel for Windows 8.

or wait for 8.1 and enable boot straight to desktop.

Your software discs that came with your Canon should have the Mac versions installed, and updates can be obtained from Canon's website.

You should be able to transfer licence code from PC to Mac, or the latest versions use the same code for both bits of software.

I made the switch to Mac because I didn't like Windows Vista and I don't regret the move, but there are some things OSX does better and some things Windows does better, and if on the whole you are happy with Windows, there are ways to make Windows 8 behave like Windows 7.

How do you download the DPP disc onto a Mac, if it doesn't have a disc writer/reader. I'm thinking of replacing my old Acer laptop with a MacBook Pro Retina?

I'm also a reluctant Windows 8 user and although it may be an acceptable interface for a touch screen pad or phone trying to emulate the iPad or Android experience, W8 is too adventurous and unnecessary for any non touch-screen device equipped with a standard keyboard.

Has anyone heard when 8.1 is going to be delivered? (Not the Beta version.)

LR is liciensed and for and works straight out of the box on both platforms. No need to get adobe to change platforms for you.
