Apple Macbook Pro 2016 - Shipping

Got my MacBook pro touch bar 15" in silver delivered today, early Christmas present!

I never used Mac before, but i love it already! Set up was a breeze, keyboard is ok, touch bar handy and love bigger trackpad! No more editing photos on the phone :))))

I'm really enjoying mine.

Also ordered the 27" LG 5k monitor the day it came available to should have that mid January.

Ordered my first MBP today, should be delivered tomorrow! Never had a mac before so very excited to get my hands on it, although still choking at how expensive it was for the basic model.

What spec did you plumb for Gaz? Are you just using this plugged into a monitor as your main machine?

Hi Kris.

Went for this model....

Touch Bar and Touch ID
2.7GHz Processor
512 GB Storage

  • 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD1
  • Radeon Pro 455 with 2GB memory
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
Swapped from a late 2012 27" iMac, so really didn't want to lose that screen size for wedding editing, hence adding the 27" display (I am still waiting for it) but I also wanted the flexibility to be able to do non editing tasks elsewhere instead of being stuck in the same room. Yes, this will be my main machine now. :)

I might do something similar later in the year. At the moment I have a Mac mini plugged into a hardware calibrated monitor. I get grief on an evening sat upstairs so a MBP would help me keep on top of SWMBO and my PP work.

How's it working out compared to the old iMac in terms of speed @gazmorton2000?

I'm going to do the same, keep hold of the 27 inch screen and sell the Mac mini to help. Still unsure of the latest model or the 2015 though.

Miles faster than the old iMac. Haven't edited a full wedding yet but just editing single images etc, I am very impressed. Really like the toucher the more I use it and now the 27" display has arrived, I can dock it and just use it as a desktop when not on the move.

I take it you'll just use a Bluetooth keyboard to keep it out the way?

I currently have a double USB3 bay with 2 HHDs that I plug into my mini Mac, leaving just the OS on the mac drive. Problem with the laptop is that I'd have to plug that in every time to access my catalogue. I do have a NAS but working off that wirelessly wasn't quick enough, but then the newer MPB's do have faster wireless. How do you store files and work out of interest? Keep WIP on the Mac then store elsewhere when done?

Yeah I have a Bluetooth keyboard now so keep the MacBook shut when connected to a monitor.

Currently I have everything on a small 3tb hard drive that I connect. It's that small it's really not a problem. My plan is to keep the wedding I'm editing on the laptop then transfer when finished.

the touchbar is just another gimmick to trap people who must have the latest gadget from apple
