What are your service options after 3 years or is it just considered a (very expensive) consumable?
you sell it for 75% of what it cost you on 2 years 11 months and 29 days
and then buy a new model
can't believe the battery is so unchangeable. crazy

With regards to the batteries in Mac laptops, there's a pretty good reason why apple don't want people messing with them. Just google "lithium polymer explosion" if you want to know the reason. Then consider that the batteries in apple laptops are considerably bigger than most of the examples you'll find. I've had a MacBook air battery make quite a nasty mess simply as a result of a dropped screwdriver.
I've just ordered one. You can still get ethernet with an adaptor, CD drive through wireless (using my other halfs MacBook Pro) or buy it separately, and FW from an adaptor.
I'm surprised no one has complained about the lack of 3.5" Floppy
Really disappointed with the lack of 3 1/2 floppy drive....

People are forgetting that you can daisy chain thunderbolt, so even if it did only have 1 thunderbolt port you could chain from the back of the monitor after that..
only if you buy Apple's monitor.People are forgetting that you can daisy chain thunderbolt, so even if it did only have 1 thunderbolt port you could chain from the back of the monitor after that..
Can't find it at the moment but someone has done a thunderbolt to DP/Gb net/Firewire800/USB3/thunderbolt hub box saw it last week I think..... Might have been on THG or AppleInsider
EDIT: Belkin do one which they launched last year but that wasn't the one I was thinking about..... One of these devices would be quite useful for me for the Macbook Air or new Macbook Pro when I eventually get it.
EDIT2: Found it, it is Matrox.... http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012...olt-dock-for-latest-ultrabooks-mac-portables/
not at all, i just think its stupid to remove standard options at the cost of having to carry extra kit.

Umm no. The connector is higher than the new MBP body...
So today was the WWDC at Apple and they have finally announced the new MBP with Retina display. Looks an impressive spec and has an SSD rather the conventional HD. Looks like the standard MBP will continue along side for the time being with some performance upgrades.
Im a little disappointed that Mountain Lion was not released, think we have another month to wait.
