Anybody have any smart home systems? I am currently thinking about lighting as a starting point / found a few starter kits for a round about £50 on Ebay (Phillips hue)

Not a strictly needed purchase but I'd be interested getting involved with it!

I have Alexa, who talks to a harmony Hub for my TV, audio etc. She also talks to Philips hue to control certain lights in the living room and hall way and she handles a few TP link smart plugs for various things.

I had a Hive system at my house which has been stripped out and is now in my youngest son's house.

He has added the Amazon Echo Dot into the mix and some smart lights and plug adaptors. Seems happy with it.

I think Apple have plans to join in with the their take on the smart home. Not sure what my next home and smart home project will be or even where. Hive did what I needed and was reliable - TBH I am not sure it can go much further without yet another revision to the main controller.

I am now almost completely sold on Apple so watching in their direction.

I had been a big fan of Apple for years but all of a sudden, they seem to be heading back to their old ways and locking everything down and you have to buy into their whole world. which is great, don't get me wrong but its expensive and you will struggle with anything/most third party items

I am still in the transition from Apple after owning a MacBook for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears and still got my iphone but I have recent bought a windows laptop and google home. Yes, GH cannot do as much as Alexa at the moment but for me, its for the long game and I don't think it will take too long for google to catch up with amazon.

Next months pay - installing Philips hue throughout the house and a google chromecast audio
