on my 27" iMac I have an issue with it freezing.

Ran the AHT and it tells me a sensor has failed and that it is the hard disk temp sensor.

Now the thing is this sensor hasn't been used for ages as I installed an SSD and covered the temp and temp/sensor issue by using software. It's worked fine for about three years.

Appears to work fine under a safe boot. Currently making additional backup.

Any ideas?

Have you updated the OS. If so may be the patch you used isn't compatible. There are some issue with Sierra and some plug ins

Updated some time ago. Worked fine until late yesterday.
