Nope. I'll be staying with CS2.
The arn't enough new goodies for me to consider upgrading. Tho I do like the extra flexability you get in the RAW conversion toolbox.
 
its very quick compared to cs2 tho (if thats important to you!)

Yeah people where testing i the beta version on another forum and on some machines it was getting on for twice as quick as cs2.
 
I will be because CS2 on Intel Mac's is emulating the PowerPC processor so CS3 will be native Intel binaries running at normal speed, ie fast. For that reason alone I'll upgrade and I'm sure every other Intel Mac CS2 user will too.

Same reason for me... the more i use CS3beta the more I am appreciating the power of my Mac. :)

Just looked again - CS3 is being announced on 27th March but not released until late spring, according to the article

She would indeed - just needs to provide evidence of profession or similar
 
she should be able to get proof from her employer...?...I work at a university and there is a direct link straight through to a supplier.

that date sounds similar to the one for the release of apple's Leopard, coincidence? CS3 is designed to run native on the intel macs...this is one thing I'm waiting for before I switch, about 90% of the thinking a mac is the right move since vista is hideously cripled. its a bit like another windows ME... 'Vista ME' ?
 
Is CS3 going to be able to fully utilise the newer dual core chips? From what I understand the newer programs have to be written with specific code in them to make full use of two cores??

Recently changed machine to a E6800 Core Duo processor but TBH didn't see as much benefit (speed diffrence) in CS2 as I was expecting. Really hoping that CS3 will be fully versed to use both chips IYKWIM.
 
at the moment, on a mac, cs2 cant use the C2D chips effectively and require 'rosetta', CS3 has been designed with dual cores in mind - and Macs too - so will be, should be faster

Yes - the educational prices are available on the adobe.com/uk store for all those in accredited education institutes, whether as a member of staff or a student. My girlfriend both works for an studies at a University. I ordered lightroom (in her name) on the adobe site. The order is held pending proof of educational status. We e-mailed a copy of her ID card and the order is now processing and should be with us next week.
 
If only Adobe would learn the lesson about sales that most other software companies have already done, that a more reasonable price point actually makes for bigger profits. Not having access to discounts or upgrades means folk like me are stuck having to pay hundreds of pounds or going with other brands.
 
Cheers guys sounds like it could be a go'er...... great news about the educational discount too. Currently doing some studies at Leeds Uni so the price could come down a fair bit :clap:
 
The Sony Vaio I was just issued here in Germany still had CS (1) on it. According to the photographer I replaced, they only got it in November along with the new D2x bodies and lenses. Land Command's a bit behind the curve, so I loaded my own copy of CS2 on immediately.
