I have 400 shots (taken RAW on a D90) and want to output them to JPEG from within Aperture. The shots are to be viewed on a computer screen, maybe some used for a Website, and I guess a few might need to be printed. Some are cropped, and so the sized vary between 5MB and 10MB. Is there a way to process the shots to get them all to output around a similar file size? I was thinking to make them, say, 5MB so as not to lose too much quality.

I've looked for myself in the past and could never find an output to file size option, but if you just output to original size, your not going to be above 5MB per image anyway.

You can of course output to a pixel size of your choice.

I'm not certain what you think you will achieve (besides them having the same size) by making them the same physical size. The quality will vary a lot between the photos when you do that.

Surely you'd want constant quality and variable file size opposed to fixed file size and variable quality.

PS. Don't forget to set the colour space in your export :-)

For the output to file size, I sometimes enter DPchallenge where they have a maximum file size for uploading challenge entries, it's a feature I would use if available.

Select all the files, right click, export, version, pick say JPEG fit within 800x800 and thats it! Very, very easy.

You can also select sizes from presets, make up your own sizes, add watermarks, get borderFX and automatically put borders on etc.etc.
