I have been slowly learning aperture and tinkering with Niks lovely plugs. To dip my toe in the water I just opened my old iPhoto lib and tinkered with that and imported a few dozen shoots in there.
By the end of the process I have got quite good at fiddling and I have also finished sorting my messy library (on a separate drive) into a nice folder structure. I am now ready to import my massive lib into aperture properly and stop over populating my iPhoto lib. I am planning to use referenced files (I am a pro sound mixer and am very good at file keeping!).
Is there any way of copying the edits (lift) of some of my latter projects in iPhoto and stamping the same editing onto my new aperture lib so that I don't have to redo all the editing? Any clever xml that can help me here?

I am worried that I have been editing in my iPhoto lib for too long and that this may not be possible?

cheers

thank you - that I am happy with so far.
My question (which was poorly phrased) is how to copy edits between different libraries with same photos...

You'd have to use presets, as these will be available in every library.

After you have imported or processed an image you can save that set of adjustments as a preset, then with the next set of adjustments save those as a different preset.

You can the apply the presets to any image, and have duplicate versions of the same image with different presets/adjustments applied.

There should be no need to have an image in more than one library, just make duplicate versions of the image. If you have many version and the browser view is getting messy, just stack the version of the photo so only one image is shown until you unstack when needed.
