Help... I've recently started using Aperture with BorderFX on the Mac. I've just noticed that something weird is happening to my portrait shots only, when following exactly the same export process, and at the same time. It looks like jpg artifacts in the images, to the point it's actually mucking up the border text too... Have a look at this thread for an example.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

How have you set up the export present regarding image size, have you set the image size as a definite or fit within.

I have been using it for 8 months with no issues.

The images are pretty small in kb, about 34k but I'm not convinced it's a jpeg problem as it only happens on the portrait shot - more likely a bug in the border plug-in

Nigel, it's set as a fit within of 800x800, I shall check the exact config later are you using BorderFX ? That looks good...

Thanks pxl8, could be. I'll drop the export plugin and try it without again later when I can get at it.

Yes mate I use it for all my aperture exports, I have not had an issue with it apart from the initial sorting out of the framing and exif info.

Feel free to pm me if you need any assistance and I will do my best to help.

Thanks very much. I can't get access to the machine till later, so I'll have a play first

No worries I will do a screen dump of my settings in the mean time, and I will put it in a word doc ready for mailing if you need them.

Cheers

Nigel

Thanks Nigel

I ran the export again, no changes, and it seems to have sorted itself out... this is most odd

Very strange indeed... must be the christmas elves having some fun...

Thanks for the help Nigel, I hope that's it, But I'll check each export to make sure.

I've narrowed this down. It's not Aperture at all. That's working fine. The issue appears to be on upload to Photobucket. I never had an issue using a PC. Now using a Mac, I'm getting all sorts of odd things happening, both with Safari and Firefox. The only time I don't is if I use the bulk uploader. It's most peculiar.

I've sorted it out, it turns out that K9, web filtering software was causing me some odd issues during upload. I've removed K9 for now and all is fine.
