I am new to photography and just bought a new Nikon D7000
I use a iMac computer at home and want to buy some software other that iPhoto and woundered if anyone else has tried either of these ......Aperture 3 or photoshop elements???
Thanks

Both are good.. aperture is a bargain at the moment. I use aperture and it can be a little sluggish at times but seamlessly integrates with the mac OS. Both are available as trial downloads so I would try before you buy. I hardly ever go into PhotoShop these days.

I will give them a try and see what happens, I hope that Aperture is the best as I love Apple software

Agree, I'm new, so still learning but I have aperture 3 and cs5 at home, I so far have found aperture easier to use, but no doubt will use cs5 once I have learned.

If you are going to buy either though, try find someone that works in education, apple do a nice discount, that's how I got MacBook pro.

I trialed aperture 3 and have found it meets my needs better than lightroom & PS4 which I struggle to get used to.

Aperture 3 was available for about £40 if you buy through the apps store, I cannot because I have the old OS and it won't let you without upgrading :'(

I know with education discount, i get the boxed version for less than half price, abut £60, so still quite a saving from the £173 in Apple store!" ok not as good as getting it from app store i know.

I looked on the Apple site and the saving was only 20 bucks from $199 to $179 what site are you looking on??

yea, not on the apple website, on the mac app store. Go into your applications folder, it'll probably be one of the first icons near at the top. Go down to whats hot and aperture is on there for £44.99 :) great program. I do all my work flow through there(after a bit of photoshop), but i also do simple edits in there to, perfect for £50

You might also want to consider elements as well though, the content aware stuff is worth it almost worth on its own! great for cloning and heavy photo editing

Why do you not want to use iPhoto? If it is because you don't like the way it works, the chances are you won't like Aperture either.

On the apple website, clicked on store, then education store, put in the uni I work at then it brings up all the prices. Something's are not discounted some are heavily discounted. I got my MacBook pro with apple care, for less than £800 from the apple store round corner to me
