yup, another problem

hopefully someone could help me with this

when i export a load of photos from RAW, aperture 3 gets stuck on some of them.
whilst exporting them it starts processing the same photo its exporting (eh???)

it sits there for about 20 mins and eventually moves on to the next one.

but the photo it stalls on, comes out like this

so, when exporting about 100 photos, 10 of them come out like that and i have to do them again.. it also means it takes hours to export the photos.

any ideas?

I can't help with this, but having been praising A3 to the heavens since its release, I've now realised LR still does more for me so have returned to the dark side.

It might be an issue with the watermark what is the file format you are using for that.

Its just a guess so dont shoot me down. In version two I had a problem like that and it stopped when I reduced the size of my watermark file.

I use lightroom now as it just does what it says on the box, and I find the adjustment brush works a lot smoother,

Not wanting to start a flaming war... as I have not even downloaded the new trail of A3 so i do not know if it has improved since v2.

I don't know about A3, but I think you should read some of those emails they may be important

I'd say that A3 is extremely buggy.

I threw nearly 500 RAW files at it the other night. They imported ok but then I started culling. I deleted around 200 and went to empty the Trash. (A3 has its own separate Trash now) It hated this and just hung. I had to force quite eventually.

I then tried to back up my Vault and for some reason this took 2 hours - just to add around 350 images so there's something not right there too.

Yesterday I was looking for some files from last year and the thumbnails rendered one by one - but only from a certain folder, the rest being instantly there.

Apple need to pull their finger out with this or we'll all be migrating to LightRoom.

OK, i wiped every single piece of aperture 3 off the hard drive. i deleted the library too.
now i re-installed ap3, then updated it to 3.02
then i spent the whole of last night re-importing all the RAWs without any versions, just RAW as the way god intended them.
I've processed most of them again.
And now I'm exporting 60 of them on a test run... lets see if it works now

keep us posted.

Did you upgrade from v2 (with the upgrade software) or full version to start with. Just need to make sure when I eventually upgrade I reduce these problems.

i upgraded. although i only upgraded a very small library (i archived all my 2009 shots at the same time).

I would def say its best to start again from scratch with a brand new library.

So far, my processing problem seems to be solved.. lets see how it goes

It is very, very buggy but I'm sure Apple will get it sorted soon.

I got the export problem as well, but like I put in another post for me it seemed to be the spot brush or cropping which caused the issue. I got the big puzzle pixel pictures too and I don't use watermarks.

I've now installed and removed twice, exported all the masters to an external drive, retruned them to the main drive, shifted the library to a firewire drive, then a USB drive, I've run it in 32 bit then 64 bit, then back and forward I don't know how many times!!!:cuckoo:

I do think it is settling down now though as it was completely useless when I first installed it.
