hi,
I've got a bunch of shots that had to be shot at high ISO (not the 450D's strong point) and I'd like to clean them up a bit if possible.

Has anyone got any suggestions for either:
  • A good tutorial on using the built in NR tool (I can't seem to get it to make any difference, no matter what I try)
  • A decent 3rd party plugin

Thanks,
Jim.

I agree the built-in tool is rather useless or I don't know how to use it.

I got the Nik Software plugin pack for Aperture which included DFine and it seems to be doing a rather good job.

Yeah, I can't work out if it really is useless, or just user error.

I'll take a look at DFine

Theres a few different plugins you can get... I had a play with noiseninja but settled with Topaz Denoise.... didn't seem much between them when I tried them out though.

Both did an ok job though

DFine seems to do a good job to me. I've tried experimenting with settings but never seem to beat the default. The Nik plugins for Aperture are outstanding. Costly though, but the complete collection seems to be half the price at Amazon that it s direct from Nik. I have probably got hold of the wrong end of the stick.

do you have a link to that cheap price since they have so many. I am hoping it wasnt the academic version.

Define from NIK Software is outstanding. As far as I can see it is the best choise for a noise reducing plugin

Yes I like the nik software suite of products including dfine. I've been running the trial but at half price I'd love to buy the complete collection for aperture.
