Edit My Images
Yes
One for the Aperture experts here! Im a newbie with using it, and im still finding my way around it. My problem is this:

I have imported all the existing photos on my Mac, but left them in their original locations.

I want to update my website a bit with some better images, so i created a project called 'clikpic'. What I then wanted to do was wade through my image folders, and duplicate the images i wanted into a new version. No problem..managed that.

I then tried to move the new version into the clikpic folder, but when I do that it moves the Master image as well. What I actually *wanted* to do was go through all my folders, pick the keepers, move them, re-edit a few, and upload them. I wanted to leave the original images in their respective folders though.

What am I doing wrong. Is my workflow all ar$e about face? Workflow has never been my strongpoint

Thanks Jonothan. I went through that and it doesnt really help me.
Im guessing there must be some way of splitting an image from its master, but im jiggered if I can work it out

Trying to get the hang of it myself after lightroom 2. Only had Aperture for 2 days.

Hopefully I have understood correctly what you are trying to achieve. Have you tried to create the folder on your hard drive out of lightroom with just the photos in you require and then import the created folder as a project from the file/import option.

I avoid all the project folders, or any of the cataloguing, I just import, adjust and 'save version' to where I want. Never had a problem with any master files, once I have my finished version they all get deleted anyway.
