Well i have tried my bl***y hardest but this piece of ****** has finally won. Crashes, Slow, Bug ridden...Shall i continue!!!!
Forget cropping, Forget retaining image quality while using the straighten tool (nice little bug there). No sharpen for output, I was a bl***y fool and to think i championed this piece of c**p, It's not until you get stuck into some serious editing (all of 30 photos) that it shows it's true colours. Thankyou Apple!!!
Can anyone recommend Lightroom 3 ?
Rant over!!!!!!!

I actually moved all my photos from Aperture 3 to Lightroom last night.
However Aperture 3 worked fine on my imac. What system have you tried A3 on?

It's not too bad for Me on my 21 but then again I'm crap at it so what do I know lol!

I love Aperture and prefer it over lightroom.

I have none of the problems you mention, and import 300 photos rate them, edit and get them out in a night with no worries. You may find lightroom could work better for you.

Download the demo and see what you think.

Could it be your Mac starting to show it's age a little?

If I were you I would DL lightroom demo, do the same editing with the same pics, and see if lightroom works better.

Indeed strange, I had Aperture on a 2009 24" imac with 4GB and it was ok. Very rarely would i get any performance issues.

Here are a few reasons why I made the switch over to lightroom.

Aperture 3 to Lightroom 3

I've just processed about 60 pics from last nights party in Aperture with no trouble, although I do admit I only used it for quick bulk processing from my compact camera.

.

Iv'e only had this mac just over 13 months. It's the latest running snow leopard so doubt that's the problem.

strange. Not sure what to say. Try lightroom demo. Some say it is a little snappier

I will download the trial. It's a shame as i said earlier i love the way Aperture is laid out but there is only so much you can take. It now will not export. I'm wondering if i should uninstall and reinstall again. Perhaps it's picked up a bug to go with the others.

Had the same experience myself with Aperture 3 on a very well specced Mac Pro.

A few photos wasn't bad but as you say doing more than 5 just causes too much mental pain. Lr 3 is where it's at.

The interface isn't as Mac-like but it does the job a heck of a lot faster. Plus the backup system makes sense, the vault system in Aperture just confused me.

Could be that SL is sapping more memory overall, which in turn is compromising Aperture. OS upgrades are all well and good for keeping up with things, but they're not always nesseccary....

Reinstall. Like you say, could be a bug. Do that first before you turn the CD into a coaster :D
