Aperture 3 - all pics disappeared

Interesting one this, and it's annoying the heck out of me.
I had a crash using Aperture 3 so I closed down and restarted. Upon restart all my images had disappeared from all of the projects.
The numbers still showed that they were there but I can't view or find them.
I decided to delete the projects and reimport the images. This was fine but long winded. I went about editing a project.
When I closed Aperture down and reopened it, all the newly imported images have disappeared again, but again the numbers show that they are still there, just can't be seen.
Anybody had this or know of a fix.

Not sure if this is relevant but when closing Aperture a dialogue appears stating "Updating library and counts through...
Its never done this before so assuming its relevant.

Not had that happen to me Kev, hold down the option and command buttons as Aperture starts and it should give options for rebuilding the DB... gotta be worth a try..

I've never heard of rebuilding the library, but it worked.
You've achieved in 10 minutes what Apples finest couldn't figure out.
