Aperture 3.3

Am I the only one who was a bit excited by this?
May be I need to get out more... :p

Probably load of folk like me still on Snow Leopard and this is for lion upwards only :(

I wait for mountain lion and all the bugs to be ironed out of both before the upgrade.

Interesting that a lot of people seemed to skip Lion for some reason... Well, only a month or so to wait until Mountain Lion. :)

I think a lot of people still had legacy applications based on the old PowerPC code, which require Rosetta to run on an intel mac. Rosetta support was an extra install option with Snow Leopard, and was dropped completely in Lion.

At home I'm fully "Lioned" up, but at work I still run Snow Leopard because I still have a couple of programs that need Rosetta.

I've downloaded the Aperture 3.3 update, but I've yet to install it. The changes and improvements do look interesting though.

This update has made me download demos of Lightroom and Capture One.

Nothing amazing in it an things like one touch pro retouch and no major updates to noise reduction means it is getting left behind.

I love the system but I don't think it is going anywhere. Lightroom and capture one both out do it in terms of processing.

The unified photo library between iphoto and aperture is enough to make me consider it.

But not until they release a more stable version as all the current reviews are rather scathing!

It's absolutely solid for me - what issues are people reporting??

Crashing mainly.

That could depend on how much memory is in the computer. Personally I wouldn't run aperture with less than 8gigs in the machine. I have 12 and aperture eats it. I'll be upgrading to 24 soon.

I think it was a solid maintenance release, still loving Aperture and how it integrates with everything on the mac unlike lightroom..

No crashes for me...

See for me this is a WTF feature. I can see why they have done it but for their Pro application most will have no need for it unlike something like better noise reduction.

It seems to be morphing into a higher end iPhoto which is fine for some but they seem to be getting left behind in terms of pure grunt and image quality.

I don't think it was done for editing capability nor library managemt. I would think it is done such that some of the multimedia sharing abilities can cross over today in aperture and ultimately keeping a single format can make live easier for maintenance and integration with other products. Like analytical tools etc.
