Saw two Apache Gunships flying over Heaton Park, 3 miles from Manchester heading east(erly) this afternoon.
I was in my car so no pics I'm afraid! (gutted) Anyone else see them? Know what they were doing?

I'm sure someone said they landed in Heaton Park on twitter this afternoon

The Apaches are based at Wattisham, here in Suffolk, and not too far from me, so we get them flying over several times day.

Of course Prince Harry trained at Wattisham, and qualified as an Apache pilot. I'm sure that he must have flown over my garden a few times, but the crews all look the same in their flying helmets, so we could never tell.

They fly very low around here, and they do look a formidable piece of kit.

They were quite low over my home town too! They seem to come from far over the west side of the city and I certainly didnt see them try to land in Heaton Park itself!

The Bonfire was on tonight, so maybe it was something to do with a display before it started???

Nah, they flew straight over without landing from what I could see/hear.

Saw a Chinook land in Platt Fields a couple of years ago. I think someone here said it happened a few times.

They created quite a racket too. I also saw them over here a couple of months back.
