the videos mentioned in this thread were very helpful and informative to me.
I recommend you have a good look through this site and the tutorial sections.
There's a lot of knowledge contained both in this forum and in members heads.
If you want to know something and you cant see the answer anywhere just start a thread, folk on here are always glad to help out!

Yeah i plan to look through i thought some might be quite advanced though and im a complete begginner to DLSR
Don't under sell your ability to pick up the skills and techniques you will learn and how quickly it will happen.
There is plenty basic info on here to help get you up and running
Have a look at the suggestions but just get out there and take lots and lots and lots of photos.
I think there is a lot to be said for "getting your eye in". The more you look out for interesting images, the more you will find them.
