Anyone using Adobe creative cloud for PS?

Am looking to update from Photoshop CS5 to CS6, and had a closer look at the creative cloud deal, the £17/month one just for PS rather than the whole 26-app suite at £45.

On the face of it, it would suit - installation on two computers is covered, and if required they can be a mix of mac and windows (which you can't mix on the normal boxed licence), no money up front, all updates provided, and a 1 year commitment.

It's not 'cloud' or SAAS despite the name, so doesn't require net access to use it, its simply a monthly subscription that covers having the software installed locally just as normal. (It does a monthly check-in online to confirm the validity of the licence). There's some extra features not in the boxed one too.

I'm tempted - roughly £200 for the year, for an app that would be £650 to buy, seems about right but saves the cash up front.

Any 'gotchas' with this deal that I haven't noticed?

One big draw back is that once you stop paying you lose access to the application. Its the only thing stopping me signing up

That's the whole point, its leased rather than purchased.

We're looking at if for work, over a few years per user it's not badly priced at all compared to buying outright.

I understand that but it's a commitment with nothing to show at the end of it. I think its a hard choice bit both options have pros and cons.

What do you need? You've been using the software during that period and then you get the next latest version incrementally before the retail version comes out.

So essentially you'll always have the latest CS if you keep paying the "lease". No need to pay upgrade or full package prices when a new one comes out.

I'm happy with the costs, I think - basically the same in three and a bit years as buying it, but you get the upgrades etc at no cost in the meantime.

I'm really just interested to know if I've missed anything in that reasoning, hidden costs or T&C issues etc.

Not that I'm aware of, I've only skimmed the business terms. Don't know if they're much/any different.

Same for me, I've gone for the whole package. It feels like decent enough value to me.

Briliant, thanks all. I've done some other googling on this, and while it looks like they double-billed some people in January and had to refund them, it seems mostly ok (other than standard software support grumbles that you get almost everywhere!)

Think I'm going to give it a go, if I don't like it after a year then I'll make a purchase instead, but this way defers that cost, and as I'm planning a number of purchases over the next two months it frees up some cash!

With CS7 on the horizon, would you get an automatic upgrade with this package?
