Anyone used Zenfolio? If so any good.
Anyone used any other companies / websites that they could rate?

I love Zenfolio FWIW - good price, easy to use and I like the options on differing layouts.

Any good for clients to
Review their images and select the ones they want. It looks really complex. Was just wondering if it was simple enough to use but efficient ?

Dead easy to set this up - I've used it for this loads of times!

Very easy to set up and for clients to use too. Full web site facility, unlimited galleries and unlimited storage space (with the premium business account) The shopping cart makes it easy for clients to order and even crop images. All fulfilled by OneVision direct to the customer and payment to you via Paypal. Even has a blog incorporated now. Can point any domain name to you account.

Very easy to use - I've no experience in setting up websites before and found it very intuitive to use. I've the higher package so I can set up my own products and self fulfil and its been easy for customers to use too.

Just a bit confused? Is one vision connected to them or are you suggesting to use one vision. As that was my other option. Also who would you recommend for the printing side of the service, especially using a company that can print school photos ?

Thank you. I'm no tech junky hence want to minimise my battles.

They are partnered with OneVision in the UK for premium business account order fulfilment. Makes the whole thing seamless.

What about using smugbug ? anyone tried them in comparison ?

It's actually Smugmug and they are quite similar and partner with Loxley for UK accounts. No personal experience but heard good things about them too

I use zenfolio for the gallery parts of my site. See my sig. :)

EDIT: Which needs a few more words to show up.

I've used both Zen and Smug. Very similar but I went with Smugmug because I got a deal. But since they have put their prices up by $100 for a premium account I'll be getting a Zenfolio account soon.

Zen offer more. You can use One Vision OR Photobox OR self fulfill your own order.

With Smugmug the only lab in the UK is Loxley! So can be expensive for certain products. They don't allow self fulfill either without paying for a modification.

I have just started a free trial with both of them following on from a similar question here on TP.
I too am no techno-whizz and so far (after just one day) I have very sore eyes and a headache.
SmugMug seems to offer a wider range of choices/options but to my dull brain it is so complicated and I have yet to work out where things are, so I find I have managed to do something but cannot remember how to a few moments later.
Zenfolio has basic templates that seem much more simple to use but I wonder if they would be limiting, though it may well be possible to customize things later on.

If there were anyone offering a basic set-up service I would be happy to pay them to do it for me - I just want a simple site that I can add pictures to and sell pictures from..!

Thanks for that ! Great to hear someone else opinion before i embark on lots of headaches... I pretty much second your cry for help - I want to upload my images send my clients to my sight with their private viewing number or code let them choose their images, pay on line via card or paypal and be done... Not looking for anything overly complicated that take hours to wrap your head around ...:gag:

Cool good to know - as I know smug is a us based company and was a bit concerned about prices etc... Looks like Zen is a winner so far ???

Ah ha:lol: - sorry yes i meant to say smugmug ... got bugs on the brain ... lol;)

So far today has been spent trying to get my head around Zenfolio, which does seem easier to me. To illustrate just how slow I am it has taken me 2 hours to work out how to have just one picture on my homepage - I have been trying to find a way to turn off the slideshow but in fact all I need is a single image..
I have spent a fair bit of time looking at bass junkie83, philthejuggler and the shoeQueen's sites which has helped, but I doubt I'll be getting anything that slick for a while yet..
One thing I have yet to figure is how to move pictures from one gallery to another, or do I have to delete it then upload it again to the new gallery ?

Are you still using the free trial or have you signed up, if not yet signed up i can give you a code for a discount, PM me.

By the way, the site in my sig is my Zenfolio site

A very kind offer Gary, but I have already been offered one !
Maybe smurf4t can use it ?

I ought to add that all the zenfolio site I have looked at have some wonderful pictures on them !

Many of the smugmug sites do too (Scott Kelby for instancde)

Don't go by the looks of the images - means nothing for your site.

All I meant was that several people who have helped me out on this and other threads have got zenfolio sites - I have been looking at their sites, trying to learn and had not mentioned the quality of their pictures - my site may well look nothing like as good, in equal part to me not being much good at setting it up and also as I doubt my pictures are anywhere near as good !

HI If you have a discount code going spare I'd love one... I've used Wix to set up my page and it just looks very blah .... something like your guys would be great hence looking around for new website set up guys ....

thanks

I also have a Discount Code available if anyone else needs one too :)

Speak to the guys at One Vision for a discount code - Theirs is 20% off the first year I think!

While on the topic of hosts and printers. I've put a post up else where but not had much response. Maybe you guys could help me. To print school portraits who would you use ? Dunns or parkerfranklin ?

A small update - I have just had my first encounter with the zenfolio help team.
About 30 seconds after I sent an email I got a huge and very helpful reply from a guy called Adam who answered my questions very clearly and has since continued to do so in a further couple of emails.
I think I know where my money is going now !

can I ask, for those with Zenfolio sites - does it allow one to customise it to company branding or do you have to use the templates they provide? Also, if you went with a template site how have you kept your branding consistent across your stationary etc? THis is one area I am struggling with before I finally commit to one of these commerce/lab sites.

I too had some pretty good help from a SmugMug hero - both are really quick and don't seem to mind my silly questions.

Pete - can I suggest you contact either or both and ask them directly - the zenfolio people are available here -

support@zenfolio.com

..and seem to reply within minutes ! I imagine you can achieve what you want but best to ask direct.
