anyone used the hitech pro stop 10stop?

have jumped in and ordered one for £48...really shouldn't have done but you know how this hobby of ours gets you wanting more and more stuff...:naughty:

I think this varies from one filter to another people seem to get Lee big stoppers with no colour cast others I have seen have a strong colour cast. You certainly seem to have hit on a good copy going off your example. The ones I had (Lee) had a definite blue cast but nothing that couldn't be corrected so I don't see it as a problem.

a couple of examples with a Lee big stopper

Couple of things i've noticed.
The gasket doesn't properly seal against the holder (yes its in the right slot) causing some flare around the center of the image.

My camera has got so many hot pixels without shooting a darkshot (noise filter) i think i could open a pixel lap dancing club (i have found some plug ins to combat 80% of this problem)
Shooting a custom white balance at the beginning of the session really helps with removing the blue cast.

Are you just using a Cokin P ( type ) holder ?

I don't know - I have a Cokin style one so am hoping my purchase will fit..need to work out how to do a custom WB..

Ok so on closer inspection the gasket on the filter is only just missing the face of the holder, enough for light leaks so, i have modified my holder with black card to essentially shim the gap, the little tag at the top of the holder has been filed flat so as not to catch and tear the gasket during fitting. I used two sheets of thick black paper, not thick enough to be stiff card but thicker than printer paper hopefully this should do the trick, the sponge gasket is compressed against the holder so i think it will work

What camera are you using? Olympus have nailed it with the one touch custom white balance in my opinion. Its just a case of shooting a reference image, usually a white sheet of paper, but with the filter in place. I tried to do it on my brothers nikon d3 and took me almost 5 minutes lol
Tried to find second curtain on a canon eos 50d...failed lol
Have a peep at the manual

Im not all disappointed with it, and have only shot with it once under a grey sky, honestly it was nearly black and white out there!
I think it will work nicely now i have no light leaks and when there is a bit more colour around
