Looking at getting my first studio kit. Was seriously considering the Lencarta Smartflash but with a softbox and trigger added its around £400 which is just too much for me at the moment.

I appreciate it's cheap, but would it give me the basics for a beginner to studio lighting, mainly for portraits?
 
Obviously I'm biased, but if nearly £400 is beyond your budget perhaps you should be asking yourself whether you might be better off with a 2 head kit for just under £300 - you can always add another head + stand later if you feel that you need them.

As for the kit you linked to, if you search this forum you'll find plenty of info on it...

Thanks Garry. I was referring to the Smartflash 2 head kit from Lencarta. When a wireless trigger and softbox are added, its bumps the price to around £400.

I reckon I would only need/want 2 heads at the minute.
