It seems quite cheap at £3.95 for a process & mount mailer versus £8.50 at a local lab, so what's the catch? Anyone had any disasters happen with them?

Cheers

I've not used their mailer service, but I have used their "in-store" E6 processing where they send it off to a lab for processing. They charged me £6 for process and mount which seemed reasonable but it takes at the minimum 2 weeks! They tell you it will take 2 weeks, but I kept going back and asking if it was in and about 3 and half weeks later they finally came in.

The processing quality was O.K, there were some marks etc on the slides (which I have never got since as I started using a pro lab), but unlike everywhere else they were just mounted slides in a plastic sleeves, no box, which makes them a pain to get in and out (I subsequently brought 10 Fuji slide boxes before they stopped making them). I did use them again to save some money after I lost the process paid mailer for a Sensia film and I got the same quality/time pretty much.

Their mailer service might be faster/better, its not exactly too much to lose if it isn't.

I'll get one when I go there tomorrow, got to be worth a go for that price.
Hope they've got some of that pre paid Sensia left!

That seems like a reasonable price if the turnaround is quick enough and the quality is acceptable - although the question should be, who do they ship it out to, and would it be cheaper to go direct...?

I used them a couple of times before i found a better lab in my town. They developed it fine, just took 4 weeks to do it. I did ask for scans and was unimpressed with them, high res jpg's but the colour correction was terrible so all the images were purple and looked nothing like the slides.

According to Woodsy (he used to work at Jessops) they use a company called Cewe, pronounced see-wee. Though he says for the price and quick turn around you might as well go with Peak Imaging

I've switched from using Peak Imaging to using 'The Darkroom' in Cheltenham. Peak did excellent processing but they restructured their prices/postage last year and although the rise in processing cost was bearable, they removed process and mount from their lower postage band which you can use for a single process only film and at almost £11 I didn't think it was worth it especially when I tried 'The Darkroom' and they do the whole thing for £7.90 including having a freepost address and their processing quality and turn around time equals or even exceeds Peak's.

I do still use Peak Imaging if I need any scans printed though as their still an excellent value service for them.
