im thinking of replacing my standard strap with the optech utility strap .My only worry is having the camera connected to strap by only 1 connection point , has anyone had any problems or failures ? .I have looked at the black rapid but that has only 1 connector as well and is also over the triple the price of the optech .

I use the Optech system on a D3100 - switching from neck strap, wrist strap or sling strap (or none) depending on what I am doing.

Optech rate the connectors up to 146lb

Er, the Op/Tech strap you've linked to connects to the camera at two points.

I use the op-tech `sling`, if tht's what you mean. No probs at all. (you can still use both clips if you wanted to)
op-tech sell `secure-its`, but you can make your own. All they are is a thin strip of velcro which wraps over the clips.

Don't worry about it. I put 6kg of weight onto my sling then swung it and bounced it around by the uniloop and it held like a good 'un.

The only thing to bear in mind is that the strap gets in the way if you want to shoot portrait. Hence why I've attached my uniloop to a BR fastener on the tripod mount.

There's a video on Youtube of somebody testing the strength of these straps using weights.

The "loop" connector is apparently made of paracord and as long as it doesn't get worn through, should hold the weight of the average person.

As for the plastic clips, buy yourself some velcro cable tidy strips to add some security.... This is the OpTech solution only I used what I had lying around already.

I use the OpTech and it is so much comfier than the standard Canon/Nikon strap. The neoprene of the OpTech just absorbs any bounce or movement of the camera whereas the others just dig into your neck/shoulder. I haven't added any extra 'security' to mine - just use it as is and it's absolutely fine. Can't recommend it enough!!!

I did mean the utility sling strap but I don't no why it linked to that strap as I didn't put any links in the thread

Ive now ordered the the sling and looking forward to receiving it .I also ordered some cable Velcro strips off ebay for added security .
Thanks for the replies.
