After some advice really. At the moment i use the Olympus E500 which i picked up very cheap to get me into photography. Now looking to upgrade, but of course if i change make i have to start again with lesnses. At the moment i have 2 lenses for my olympus E500 which ould fit the E-30 if i change to it.

Simple advice is is this a good camera, or is it worth changing to say Nikon and starting again buying lenses

thanks in advance
Paul

Hi Paul, the E-30 is a very capable camera, like most D-SLRs it will produce very nice images.
I very nearly opted to go for an E-30 myself about a year ago (I was an Olympus user at the time) but unfortunately it didn't have the weather sealing I was hoping for and I considered the E-3 too big and bulky for a 4/3 camera.

No doubt you are aware that Olympus make some really fantastic zooms (kit and Pro range) so if you're happy with your kit and it's output up to now I would be inclined to stick with it.
By the way which lenses do you use with your E-500?

thanks for the advice greytop! At the moment I have the 17.5-45mm and 40-150mm lenses

I have the e-3 & love it, the e-30 is speced better apart from the weather sealing & 100% view finder, as previous said Oly make great lenses.

No problem, credit where credit is due, Olympus make some great kit IMO.

If you do go ahead with an E-30 and if funds allow I would take a close look at the ED 12-60 SWD, it's a superb Pro spec zoom with wonderful image quality. I had that lens (along with the ED 50-200 SWD and ED 50 f/2) and it was one of the real wrenches to give that up when I moved to Pentax.
In the mean time if it is just a body upgrade your kit lenses are amongst the best available (image quality wise) from any manufacture.
Best wishes what ever you decide on :)

Again I agree, I have the 12 - 60 SWD & 50 - 200 SWD, GREAT Lens
