Just wondering if anyone here uses a Now TV smart box, and what exactly you get for your £9.99 ie can you get Youtube and facebook and other apps free, or do you have to pay a subscription ? to be honest I would only really be using it for Youtube, so I don't have to plug the laptop into the TV, so for £9.99 that's ok, but if I have to start shelling out for anything else I won't bother, as I already have sky.

The box is £9.99 - you only pay extra if you want the premium streaming services - sports, movies etc. YouTube is free :)

I've got one, and loaded Plex on it, you can watch all sort of stuff on that, £10, it's a bargain.

Seems like you can't get Youtube on it though :(

Looks like you can ;)

So you wantYouTube on NowTV by Sky? Here is a little something that will let you watch YouTube videos on your NowTV box.

Your little NowTV box is basically a Roku LT and because Sky has restricted access to Roku’s Channel Store we must ‘side-load’ this Channel or Application to the device. You need your NowTV box, a computer and a spare 5 minutes.

Sky’s NowTV box has turned into the bargain £9.99 media player with BBC iPlayer, 5OnDemand and now YouTube.

Enabled Developer Access
  1. Go to the NowTV Device Home-screen.
  2. Using your remote enter the following sequence: Home button x 3 Up x 2 Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.
  3. Note down the IP address of your device.
  4. Select to “enable” the developer mode.
Install YouTube on NowTV
  1. On your computer download YouTube for NowTV, save it to your Desktop.
  2. Open your web-browser and navigate to http://IPofYOURNowTV
  3. Select Browse.
  4. Locate the ‘YouTube for NowTV.zip’ file.
  5. Select ‘Install’ or ‘Replace’.

Thanks for the link, although I am not quite sure how that would work, apart from it working wirelessly from your modem, how do you actually set this up on the box, sorry a bit of a technophobe with things like this

Yes, as long as both the now box and laptop are on the same network the laptop will "find" the control window of the box when you navigate to that IP.
