Should just do it, what a great lens! Got it to take progress pictures of my barn conversion, it's perfect for the job. The pictures are not great, bit hard to take pretty pictures on a building site... but they show the capabilities of the lens. Anyone who does any kind of interior photography should look at one of these beauties!

It's a wonderful lens. I had one when I had a crop camera and I liked it a lot. Performance was great, a bit of vignette but that's by the by. AF was absolutely brilliant, definitely on a par with -if not better than- my current EF USM lenses, one of which is an L!

Unless you're shooting a bedsit I think 10mm should be good enough!

It's my first non-kit lens and I was massively impressed with the autofocus, so quick and quiet. Makes you realise how poor the kit lens is.

Hi ash i take it you recieved the lens then :)

Andy

P.S any chance you could leave me i-trader feedback please.

Estate agents should be happy with these... Now there is sigma 8-16mm which is even more suited for this job (at 8mm)

Absolutely right, suprised nobody has put together a kit for estate agents of say an 1000D and one of these with a training session specifically for valuers!

Very good results though, nice and sharp. If I can offload my Tamron 10-24 I'll be ordering one up.

Yes Andy thanks a lot, sorry I didn't know about the iTrader thing, just done it now.

Thanks cw318is, not happy with the Tamron then? I was considering those before the Sigma came up.

If you'd never seen the Sigma's clarity it would do - I could only get the Tamron as I needed an ultra wide ultra urgently, but as a side by side comparison its uber soft.

All the estate agents I have ever seen use compact cameras and wonder why they can't get much in the shot

Does make you wonder why they don't use a DSLR and a UWA lens :bonk:

I can confirm what a good lens the 10-20 is.One of my best buys.I think it realy comes into its own with landscapes.

Hopefully the landscape image will appear this time.

I was thinking about getting a tokina 12-14. Not sure now what to do:(

Yes, as others have said it's a great lens. Sadly derided by many on here who have probably never owned one! Genuinely sad to let mine go when I switched to FF. Don't take any notice of all the knockers, this lens takes great pictures at a bargain price.

TBH it's better, unless you NEED that extra 2mm at the wide end. However there isn't much between them so you'll be happy with either.:)

I was a bit put off at first by people saying it's soft around the edges but I think it's spot on.

Does anyone have any experience of other Sigma EX lenses? I was planning to stick to Canon lenses for my zoom/portrait lenses but I'm that impressed by the AF on the Sigma that I might consider others.

If you want to buy one - carefully and thoroughly test it first (even brand new). You may have to go through a few until you find your pick.

One I wouldn't get is 24-70mm f/2.8 (non-HSM). Soft and very low contrast.

Canon lenses will hold their value much better. Consider 70-200mm variants from both and what they were worth new and now used.

I agree, this is my most used lens now and fantastic for landscape. Definitely the best purchase I have made so far.

Its a brilliant lens and one which you can have a lot of fun with (compared to other types of lens).

Some shots from my recent purchase:
