Guys

As I get more and more into this digital photography thing I am finding the limits of my kit and my traditional flat panel monitor on my PC just isnt cutting the mustard anymore.

Anyone got any recommendations ?

Cheers

Dell Ultrasharp monitors (the ones with IPS screens).

Dell Ultrasharp monitors are great, however another fab alternative is the Asus Pro Art 264Q. From searching around this seems to be one of the best sub £500 monitors on the market.

I use the 24in HP ZR24w IPS monitor, along with a Spyder 3 Pro, and my images come back from DSCL looking exactly the same as I see them on the monitor.

I think some indication of budget from the OP would be helpful. You'll get recommendations between £150 and £1500 quite easily.

If you're looking low budget, I've got an Asus ML239H IPS monitor (about £175) and I find the colour reproduction to be very good, but obviously it won't be up there with monitors costing 3-6 times that.

If you are using a Mac, is the 27 inch monitor good? I am going to buying a MacPro soon
Yes, if you're OK with the shiny screen (shiny screen = reflections).

The good thing about a mac pro is that you can use any screen you want, as it does not have a built in screen, but with an imac you are stuck with the built in shiny screen (apple for some reason offer no matt option ).

Thanks for the recommendations guys !

Nothing like a bit of first hand experience.

Hadnt really thought too much about budget, that doesnt mean its an open cheque book, I just hadnt considered what these things cost and how they differ from the traditional flat panel stuff.

Thanks for the tip Nikon Fan ! I tested DCSL's service for the first time this week and was well impressed, but it was on a black and white print so its nice to know the two tie up nicely.

90% of my work is black and white, which when printed on the Luster paper gives superb results.
