hello
anyone printing hanemuhle rag paper ?
how difficult is it ?
I would like to print my own ' art' prints what printer would I need 16x12" max size i would go probably
cheers
I'd go with a fibre based paper maybe innova semi matt. It would give you the Matt face but with better qualitys than what you would get with a cotton rag paper.
ok is inova durable/long lasting
and which printer would give me the best results with that and would it take much time/effort to set up profiles etc ?
I also like the Innova range of papers especially the smooth cotton high white one?
It also prints well on the Epson 1400 printer for which Innova do icc profiles
With the profiles just drag and drop them into the appropriate file.....sorry cant give you the location at the mo as I'm on holiday and using my iPad

Should have added in my post that I think if you download the icc profile you can install it by right clicking it which will bring up the option to install

because hanemuhle photorag makes art buyers, museum curators and fine artists get slightly weak at the knees, it has a rep in the art world as being some sort of super paper, and as such prints made on it carry a premium
also low dmax and blocked shadows gives a very unphotographic quality to the prints, screen printing on textured paper has a similar quality to photorag and as i've just graduated from art school I have come to realise 2 things, 1) that sometimes people don't always want things to be a photograph to be a carbon copy of the scene, 2) people are artists, or they are technicians, rarely do people cross over- and artists are more susceptible to believing what they're told and accepting what has become considered as status quo,
a technician measures twice with a laser calibrated ruler and cuts once with a computer aided cutting robot, an artist measures by eye cuts twice with a pair of rusty scisors and sells the first to the tate and the second wins the turner prize
