Now to find a piano teacher !

Do you have a Mac? If so you can download 8 free lessons via Garageband that are good enough for you to get on your way.

Ive had lessons for the past 3 years, not got a piano but got a couple of keyboards (all Yamaha too!) and midi controllers. been through many books etc but it wasnt till i got lessons till i learnt to play properly. Best bet is speak to your local uni and find a teacher through them. I did it that way and pay £20 a week for a two hour lesson.

£20 for 2 hours is a bargain !

I ran up a "music school" and they have quoted me £11 for 30 mins.

I don't have a mac (yet), so a the moment, until i get lessons, i will have to settle for youtube videos.

I've been playing for 10 years xD But I can't really afford lessons anymore ):

Try looking around privately, when I started my teacher charged £8 for half an hour.

i bought a guitar book today to try to get back into it, 5mins and my fingers hurt :(

Stick at it, your fingers will no longer hurt and they will start to stretch you will be fine after a couple of days....Then you start on barre chords and think its going to be impossible, but when you nail one you can get them all :D

What Youtube videos are you going to be following? There are some really good ones out there.

nothing specific, i am trying to learn an Avril track, a couple of Vanessa Carlton Track and the theme to Requiem for a Dream.

Cool, the easiest thing to do whilst trying to learn the tracks is learn the chord shapes and learn to play each note with just one finger - sounds obvious but its what I was tought first.

One song that every newbie has to butcher is Fur Elise, pretty sure its one of the first your tested on if you go in for your exams too. Look up Narina Pallot too, easy and sounds amazing. Broken stones by Paul weller is another good one.

I have also just started this 'hobby'. Bought myself a new Yamaha YDP S30 of ebay:

However can't afford proper lessons yet, so just being working away at some lessons from Rocket Piano: http://www.rocketpiano.com/

Costs about £30 but teaches you the basics and some intermediate stuff too. Hope you get on well, I play just for pure enjoyment and to de-stress lol.

I also play the synthesizer . . .

. . . badly.

:suspect: :D

Oooh, i had wanted that, how much did you pay for that.

I bought it new off ebay for £370 if I remember right including P+P. Other websites had it for £500/600... I thought it was a good bargain. :)

Excellent Bargain, i looked in a shop before Christmas and it was just over £400 then. The prices has gone up like Camera gear so £500/600 sounds about right for the current prices !

My local shop quoted me £600 for the P85 (new model of the P70), online £500, and i just can't justify that much to start a hobby.
